Want to Give Back? Serve on Our Scholarship Review Committee

We are seeking individuals interested in serving on our competitive scholarship review committee, which reviews, evaluates and scores student competitive award applications. There are two regular seats and two alternate seats open for the 2023 – 2025 term. Eligible individuals interested in giving back and helping students succeed are encouraged to consider serving on this important committee! Gratitude Corner

Alyssa Radman    

Alyssa Radman, of Naperville, Illinois, is working toward her master’s degree in chemical engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder, where she expects to graduate in May 2026.

“Your generosity is giving me the ability to go to the college of my dreams and achieve a career I have been dreaming of since I was little,” Alyssa said. “I hope to use my education to eventually travel the world and give back to minority and developing countries through my global engineering minor. Without the donors help, I wouldn’t be where I am today and pursuing my dreams.”

“It means everything to me that I have the support from my Native community and Doyon Foundation to receive my education. I am very connected to my culture and the fact that the Foundation is supporting my education is remarkable to me and I am so appreciative.” •

Celebrating 10 Years of Our Language Revitalization Program

Throughout the year, we are celebrating the first 10 years of our language revitalization program, which was established in October 2022. As part of the celebration, we produced an anniversary video, which premiered at the Doyon, Limited annual meeting earlier this month. Apply for Year 2 of Mentor-Apprentice Program

Teams interested in participating in our Native language Mentor-Apprentice Program (MAP) are invited to apply as members of our second MAP cohort! A total of nine team spots are available in the 2023 – 2024 MAP cohort. Applications are due by Sunday, April 30, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. AKDT. Learn more and access the application: bit.ly/MAPYear2. •

DLO On the Go Contest

We’re excited to announce our DLO On the Go Contest to encourage interested language-learners to learn their language with Doyon Languages Online (DLO)! Sign up for a free DLO account by March 31 for a chance to win an iPad, Apple gift card or gift basket! DLO offers free online language-learning courses for the Native languages of the Doyon region. Registration is open to all interested learners, and you will automatically be entered to win when you sign up for DLO. Winners will be announced April 3. Get Involved with the 2023 Golf Classic

The 22nd annual Morris Thompson Memorial Golf Classic will take place Thursday and Friday, June 22 – 23, 2023, in Fairbanks! This annual event, which is our largest scholarship fundraiser of the year, offers a great time for a great cause. Connecting at the Doyon Annual Meeting

It was wonderful to connect with shareholders in person once again at the Doyon, Limited annual meeting, which took place March 17 in Fairbanks. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit with us! Doyon Foundation’s language team helped dozens of people register for Doyon Languages Online and three lucky new users won gift baskets filled with local goods, beadwork and children’s language games. •
