Kevin Whitworth

Forrest Williams
Forrest Williams, of Fairbanks, is attending Western New England University, where he expects to graduate with his Master of Science in engineering management at the end of this year. “I am grateful for your contributions and look forward to demonstrating that I was a deserving candidate,” he shared. “Receiving the Doyon Foundation scholarship means that I can focus on my studies. Two New Languages Available to Learn in Doyon Languages Online
After years of hard work by our dedicated language teams, we are thrilled to announce that courses in Deg Xinag and Dihthaad Xt’een Iin Aanděeg’ (Tanacross) are now available in Doyon Languages Online! First Cohort of Teams Selected for New Mentor-Apprentice Program
We are excited to announce that the first cohort of teams for our new Native language Mentor-Apprentice Program have been selected. The original grant funding allowed us to fund a total of 10 teams. However, with additional generous funding from the Doyon Foundation board, we are able to fully fund an additional five teams, for a total of 15 teams in our first cohort. Paul Williams, Jr.
In this Storyteller language profile, Paul Williams, Jr. shares about his experience as a Native language teacher at Cruikshank School in Beaver, and his own journey as a student pursuing his Bachelor of Arts. Williams, Jr. has been teaching for 31 years, spanning two different centuries, and has taught 250 students from three generations. $50,000 in Grants Awarded for 2022 Language Revitalization Projects
We have selected 10 organizations to receive Our Language grant funding for language revitalization projects across the Doyon region this year. A total of $50,000 will be awarded to the 2022 recipients, including Doyon region tribal governments, tribal councils and communities; nonprofit Alaska Native organizations, societies and community groups; and Alaska Native cultural, educational and recreational organizations. Robin Renfroe

As a result of his passing and the starting of the Morris Thompson golf tournament at the Doyon Foundation, it was just natural to give back. 2022 Morris Thompson Memorial Golf Classic
The 2022 Morris Thompson Memorial Golf Classic will take place on Thursday and Friday, June 23 – 24, at Chena Bend Golf Course on Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks! The event was established in honor of the late Morris Thompson, president and CEO of Doyon, Limited from 1985 – 2000. Event proceeds support the Morris Thompson memorial scholarship fund, which has awarded $583,680 to 221 students since inception.
