Three Students Receive $5,000 From COPC's Bridges The Gap Scholarship
|
|
The newly created Bridges The Gap Scholarship has individually awarded three high school students $5,000 towards their college education. The recipients are Landon Curren, Madison Black, and Paula Garcia.
Landon Curren, the son of COPC Revenue Cycle team member Jamie Curren, is a graduating senior at Licking Valley High School. He will be attending Bowling Green State University in the fall.
Cristo Rey High School senior Madison Black has been part of COPC's Cristo Rey Work-Study Program for the last two years. She will attend The Ohio State University this fall.
Paula Garcia, the daughter of Sr. Processor at the Central Lab Victor Garcia, is a senior at Hillard Darby High School and will graduate in May. Garcia will then attend Otterbein University in the fall.

Cristo Rey Students Complete 2022-23 Program at COPC
Four Cristo Rey High School students completed their work-study program with COPC on May 15. The four students who participated this school year were Madison Black, Kirsty Agyekum, De'Shaya Martin, and Ruth Loboe.
Each student made a presentation highlighting the lessons they learned throughout the year to COPC's May 15 Senior Management Team Meeting.
Throughout the program, each student gained valuable work experience in the medical profession. Students assisted with a wide variety of tasks at practices and the CBO. These included scanning and indexing, rooming patients, various administrative duties and projects, and shadowing clinicians.

COPC Celebrates Diversity Month With New T-Shirts
|

To honor Diversity Awareness Month in April, COPC hosted its very first t-shirt design contest. The contest asked COPC employees to flex their creative muscles and submit designs to the COPC DEI Committee. Employees received their new t-shirts at the end of April.
Patient Service Representative, Jamie Lee, of Riverside Pediatric Associates, was named the contest winner. Her design spoke to COPC as an Ohio organization and shared the principles of Diversity and Inclusion in a beautiful and thoughtful way. Congrats Jamie!

Mary Kay Rohrkemper Named to the Ohio Athletic Trainers Hall of Fame
|
|
Veteran COPC Physical Therapy Manager Mary Kay Rohrkemper was inducted into the Ohio Athletic Trainers Association Hall of Fame on May 5. Mary Kay, who has been with COPC since 2011 and works out of Westerville Physical Therapy, was part of a two-member hall of fame class. The induction took place at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Hotel in Dublin, Ohio.

Second Annual Spring Fest at the Quest Connects Site Managers to the CBO

COPC hosted its second annual Spring Fest at the Quest on May 9 at the Quest Conference Center in Westerville. This year's event was dubbed "Get to Know the CBO".
At the event, representatives of various CBO departments set up booths and hosted breakout sessions to demonstrate the support available to the COPC sites and practices.

Five Individuals Win the Boss Builders Prize Drawing
|
|
Boss Builders, the year-long management skill-building workshop, wrapped up for the year during the week of May 2. In all, 175 individuals from our sites/practices and the CBO participated.
Those completing all of the courses were entered into a drawing to win 100,000 points for use in the COPC RecogNation store. Five winners were randomly drawn at COPC's Spring Fest at the Quest on May 9. The winners were:

Mid-Ohio Pediatrics and Adolescents Celebrates Employee Appreciation Day at the Columbus Zoo
|
On April 16, Mid-Ohio Pediatrics and Adolescents treated its staff and their families to a special day at the Columbus Zoo. Everyone was treated to a delicious lunch. There also were activities for the kids and homemade cupcakes made by nurse Bethany Osterhout.
Additionally, Dr. Kent Doherty spoke to the crowd of over 100, on behalf of all of the physicians. He expressed gratitude for all of the hard work and dedication the staff puts forth day in and day out.

COPC’s Fall Prevention Classes are Accepting Referrals
|
Keep your patients moving confidently and doing what they love when you refer eligible individuals to this program! Fall Prevention offers classes for cognitively intact, community-dwelling COPC patients ages 60 and over who are at risk of falling.
This class has benefitted patients by helping prevent falls and related hospital visits. It also allows patients to maintain greater independence.
Classes are in-session (held May through October) and hosted in Westerville, Reynoldsburg, Upper Arlington, and Dublin.
Make a referral to get them enrolled in the next class!
