MARC'L NEUMANN ANNOUNCED AS VICE PRESIDENT OF PATIENT CARE SERVICES/CHIEF NURSING OFFICER

Submitted by: Connie Koutouzos

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Marc’l Neumann, MSA, BSN, RN, as Vice President of Patient Care Services/Chief Nursing Officer for McLaren Thumb Region and McLaren Caro Region effective October 23, 2022.

Marc’l brings with her to her new role nearly 20 years of nursing and leadership experience. An accomplished strategic and operational leader in hospital systems large and small, Marc’l holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Saginaw Valley State University in addition to a Master’s of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University. As a lifelong resident of Huron County, she is proud to serve the communities of our two Critical Access Hospitals support in her new leadership role.

Marc’l began her career as a registered nurse in the emergency department at McLaren Thumb Region—a position that laid the foundation for her career and fostered her love for rural health. From there, Marc’l gained experience at St. Mary’s of Michigan as a registered nurse before coming back to McLaren Thumb Region as the Director of Acute Care & Emergency Department for several years. Most recently before her current role as Quality Program Manager for McLaren Thumb Region and McLaren Caro Region, Marc’l spent four years at McLaren Bay Region as the Director of Patient Care Services and Critical Care Manager. In this position she provided direct leadership over three high acuity critical care units and a Level III Trauma Center designated emergency department which provided care to over 35,000 patients annually.

Throughout her extensive background, Marc’l has demonstrated an engaged leadership style along with a strong commitment to ensuring the delivery of the highest quality of care. Operationally, culturally, and professionally, Marc’l understands how to achieve the best possible results for our patients. Her expert assessment and restructuring skills have time and again resulted in patient care excellence, financial success, and improved culture. These skills will no doubt be a tremendous asset to our nursing and leadership team.

Please join me in welcoming Marc’l to our executive leadership team at McLaren Thumb Region and McLaren Caro Region!

  1. If you’re moving into a new home or apartment, don’t forget to change the locks if you own the new residence or ask the manager to change them if you rent.
  2. Stop leaving notes on your door announcing when you will be home.
  3. Always double-check that you’ve locked all your home’s doors and windows when you leave for the night.
  4. If you arrive home and your door is open, or things appear to be out of place, get out of the house immediately and call 911.
  5. Don’t allow strangers into your home, even if they are hurt or say they need help. Keep the door locked and call the police for them.

MCLAREN PRESCRIPTION SAVINGS PROGRAM

Introducing the McLaren Prescription Savings Program

McLaren Health Care is proud to announce a new program to provide patients and communities with a free service to save on prescription medications. Through a partnership with SingleCare, the McLaren Prescription Savings Program can help families save up to 80 percent on prescription costs, or an average of $345 annually.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

McLaren’s Prescription Savings Program is a free service that helps our patients save on prescriptions whether or not they have insurance, covers more than 10,000 of the most commonly filled prescriptions, and is accepted at more than 35,000 pharmacies nationwide—including Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, Target, Kroger, Duane Reade, and more.

McLaren’s Prescription Savings Program is used just like a cash discount card. It is not an insurance and cannot be used with an insurance co-pay. However, prescription costs in the program are often lower than insurance co-pays, and it can also be used with Flex Spending programs for additional pre-tax savings.

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

You can access the program in several ways. The most convenient is to visit our web page to find prescription savings and participating locations, and send yourself a savings card or coupon through email, text, or print on-demand. Patients can also find cards and coupons at every McLaren facility, which will be delivered and made available soon.

Simply show the savings card or coupon to the pharmacy and discounts will automatically be applied! There is no sign-up process and no collection of any personal data at any time.

WHO CAN USE MCLAREN'S PRESCRIPTION SAVINGS PROGRAM?

While McLaren Health Care created the McLaren Prescription Savings Program for the benefit of our patients, there are no eligibility requirements or restrictions, and anyone can enjoy the benefits of the program.

HOW CAN I HELP OUR PATIENTS WITH THIS PROGRAM?

Spread the word! Materials will be made available at key access points by marketing teams. You can help our patients save by reminding them of this program at registration, discharge, and wherever you interact with patients.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION

A Recipe for Togetherness

The McLaren Messenger would like to ask staff members to submit recipes as part of its Diversity and Inclusion campaign. Food is a large part of what brings people together and by submitting a recipe, you can help people understand your culture as well as introduce people to foods they may never have tried before.

Email recipes to editor Rick Coulter's email. All recipes will be submitted for future consideration in The McLaren Messenger. We are looking forward to hearing from everyone!

This Week's Recipe: California Roll Wraps

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup wasabi mayonnaise
  • 6 whole wheat tortillas (8 inches)
  • 2 packages (8 ounces each) imitation crabmeat
  • 1 medium ripe avocado, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1-1/2 cups julienned peeled jicama
  • 1 medium sweet red pepper, julienned
  • 1 small cucumber, seeded and julienned
  • 3/4 cup bean sprouts

Instructions

  1. Divide the wasabi mayonnaise evenly among the 6 tortillas and spread to within 1/2 inch of the edges. Layer with crab meat, avocado, jicama, red pepper, cucumber, and bean sprouts. Roll up tightly.

If you can't find wasabi mayo or don't like the spicy kick, use regular mayo instead. This sandwich lends itself to many flavor options. Toss in your favorite raw veggies, substitute smoked salmon or tuna for the crab, and use half a pita instead of the tortilla. Making this ahead of time? Toss avocado slices with a splash of rice wine vinegar or lemon juice to keep them from turning brown.
