First United Weekly Newsletter

July 3, 2025

Our Vision Statement:

We are a welcoming community FIRST UNITED in proclaiming FAITH in Jesus Christ, sharing HOPE for the future, and inspiring LOVE of our neighbors.

Hoping it's Not Too Hot

Pastors in the Parking Lot will return THIS MORNING (7/3) at 10am (inside if weather doesn't cooperate). Pastors Luke and Meggan set up this time the first Thursday of each month for some casual, catch-up conversations with church friends. Feel free to bring a lawn chair, stop by, and visit for awhile.

Be Very Careful!

We've heard several stories this week about fake emails appearing to come from Pastor Luke asking you to pick up some gift cards. As you would hopefully figure out - they're a scam! Always be sure to check the email addresses to be sure they're correct. (His correct address is pastorluke.fupc@gmail.com.) Also, our Pastors wouldn't ask any of us to buy gift cards for them. Please be very careful with any emails you receive. Don't let the "bad guys" take advantage of your kindness.

Plans for Sunday

It'll be "Name Tag Sunday" this week. Our Deacons are providing name tags on the first Sunday each month to help us all put the names with the faces. It also helps our Communion servers call you by name when you pass by during the Lord's Supper on Sunday. Please stop by the table in the Narthex to pick up your tag (or fill out a new one).

Worship Service

Join us this Sunday (7/6) at 9am as we'll read together Galatians 6:1-16 and Luke 10:1-11, 16-20 (*click links to read). These passages will help us focus on Christian living, mission, and the nature of the Kingdom of God. The harvest is plentiful, but are we up to the task? Hope you'll join us Sunday as we share Communion for the new month!

> Don't forget - if you can't join us at church on a Sunday, you can still share worship with a video of each service posted by around 11:30am every Sunday on our website (www.firstunitedpc.org) and our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/First.United.Pres/). You never have to miss a thing!

Can You Help "The Great Escape"?

We're excited to be heading to The Great Escape with our Middle School youth next Monday (7/7) through Saturday (7/12). There are only a few days left for you to bring snacks or drinks for our group of 14. Donations can be dropped off near the Welcome Center or in Pastor Meggan's office by Sunday. Thanks for helping us stay fueled while we have lots of fun. Please keep our youth and adults in your prayers for a spiritually fulfilling, fun, and safe week next week!

They're "On the GO" Again!

This month, the Presbyterian Women "On-the-Go" gang will begin two months of learning more about our local public services. On Monday (7/14), they'll visit the Brown County Sheriff K-9 Unit to find out more about their four-legged functions & duties. That will be followed by lunch at the Grapevine Cafe. The carpool will leave the church parking lot at 10:15am.

Divas July Plans

Join our Dining Divas for their next dinner gathering on Tuesday (7/15) at 6pm at the Graystone Ale House (3711 Monroe Rd, De Pere). Please RSVP to Pastor Meggan or Debbie Spiegel by Sunday (6/13) if you'd like us to save a seat for you this month!

Can You Ho, Ho, Help?

This Sunday (7/6) begins our month-long Christmas in July collection for items for the De Pere Christian Outreach "Christmas Store" held annually in our Family Life Center. This year we're keeping it very simple by asking for only three items - small plush throws, fishing poles, or kitchen utensils. Look for the Christmas tree in the Narthex, and drop off your donations all month. Thanks!

Lasting Legacy

Did you know only four of ten Americans have wills? Do you have a will or experienced recent life changes? There's no better time to create or update your will than NOW. When you do, please consider including First United’s Endowment Fund as an additional beneficiary. By planning a legacy gift to the Endowment Fund, you are joining those before you who have made possible the life-changing ministry offered here at First United. A gift to the Endowment Fund will provide an enduring legacy of your faith that will bless lives of current and future generations. Find information at the Welcome Desk.

Sharing the Love

Last evening, our Agape Drive-Thru Dinner continued the great tradition as a long line of church family, neighbors, and friends drove by to pick up free meals with July 4th cupcakes!. As always, we thank our amazing team of volunteers who made it all happen. The next Agape Drive-Thru Meal is scheduled for August 6.

Presbyterian Women Updates

It's time for a summer update on all the Presbyterian Women group plans. There will be no meetings of the P.W. Coordinating Team, P.W. Mission Sewing group, P.W. Talbot Circle, or 4th Tuesday Readers during July. Most will return in August, and all will begin their regular monthly schedules again in September. Watch your newsletter for all the latest details!

V.B.S. 2025 - Just 2 Weeks Away!

"True North" V.B.S. is coming July 20 - 24, Thanks to those who've already signed up their kids or volunteered to help with the big event! Share the details with all your friends and family so everyone can be a part of our "True North" VBS adventure this summer!

Can You Help?

As a church family, we enjoy sharing love and support for one another when we can. Are you doing a kitchen remodel? Maybe upgrading appliances? If you have a older refrigerator you're replacing, we have a family who could use one right now. Please contact Pastor Meggan (pastormeggan.fupc@gmail.com) for more information. Thanks for any help that might be shared!

Projects Update

A self-loan of $143,000 from our Endowment Fund was used to repair our water damaged basement, new Sanctuary and offices carpeting, replacing 7 doors, repairing over 40 windows, and replacing damaged curbing. This self-loan is being replenished by your gifts and donations.

Approximately $80,000 has already been repaid. Please consider making or pledging a gift to help replenish the remaining $63,000 used for the project. Information is available at the Welcome Desk.
