Our Vision Statement:

We are a welcoming community FIRST UNITED in proclaiming FAITH in Jesus Christ, sharing HOPE for the future, and inspiring LOVE of our neighbors.

Special Little Mother's Day Prayer

"Dear Lord, thank you for the gift of mothers and mother figures. We thank you for their unconditional love, endless sacrifices, and guiding wisdom. Bless them with strength, joy, and peace on this special day. May they feel deeply appreciated and know how much they are loved, both by us and by You. Amen."

Our May "Spring Clean-Up" Needs You!

We're calling on all our wonderful helpers to come help with our Spring Clean-Up Day coming this Saturday (5/9), from 8:30am until around noon. We'll have jobs to be done outside as well as inside to help get our beautiful church home freshened up for the summer. Whether it's an hour or all morning, we hope you'll plan to come out and join our team!

Celebrate the Gifts of Woman

Worship next Sunday (5/17) will celebrate the gifts of women including multiple generations serving as ushers, readers, liturgists, greeters, singers, bakers, etc. A special Women's Choir will sing an anthem written/composed by a female member of the former Preble Park Presbyterian Church, and scripture passages include, Psalm 139:23-24 and 1 Corinthians12:4-11.

All women (middle school aged & above) are invited to join the "Women's Choir" Wednesday (5/13) at 6:30 pm for a rehersal.

Sunday Worship Plans

Join us for worship this Sunday at 9 am. We will focus on Ascension Sunday this weekend which is rooted in

Acts 1:1-11 and Luke 24:44-53. As Jesus is lifted into heaven with the promise of the gift of the Holy Spirit, the disciples are not left staring in the sky, but are sent out as witnesses of Christ's life, death, and resurrection. As Jesus blesses them and ascends, the church is called to live in that same blessing-continuing his work with hope, courage, and joy until he comes again. Hope you can join us!!

Sunday School Wrap-Up

Sunday School comes to a close for the school year this week, Sunday (5/10). Thanks for attending classes and deepening your faith. We will have opportunities throughout the summer, but not a consistent weekly offering until after Labor Day. Thanks to all of our teachers who dedicated a lot of time and talent sharing God's word. Thank you teachers including Pastors Luke and Meggan, Mark DeCleene, Cori Marinan, Sarah McPherson, Scott McPherson, Jameson O'Brien, and Debbie Spiegel.

Adult Sunday School

Join us this Sunday at 10:30 am as we conclude our five-week Essential Tenets study, focusing on “Living in Obedience to the Word of God.” We’ll explore how obedience flows from God’s grace and what it means to live as a distinct Christian community in today’s culture. Come for thoughtful discussion and encouragement as we grow together in faithful discipleship. All are welcome!

Youth Group Activities

There will be regular youth group this Sunday (5/10) & next Sunday (5/17) from 6-7:30 pm. There will be no youth group on Memorial Day Weekend (5/24) or Confirmation Sunday (5/31). The year will wrap up with the annual end of the year cookout on Sunday (6/7) at 6pm. We will have burgers and hotdogs, play some fun games, welcome our rising 6th graders and end the evening with a bonfire.

Information for Our Confirmands

The Confirmation Class will be confirmed on Sunday (5/31) during worship where they will profess their faith and seek to join the membership of First United. Pastors Luke and Meggan have enjoyed working with them since January as they have deepened their faith in many ways.

Thanks to Pastor Dominic and his wife Nikki from Christ First, the confirmation class will be headed to their "ranch" Birch Hill Stables this Saturday (5/9) from 2-6pm for a special program "Rebellion-Ranch-Ride-Restoration." This will be a meaningful way to wrap up all of their hard work this year.

Visit with Our Pastors

Our monthly Pastors in the Gathering Area meeting is coming Today (5/7) at 10 am. Pastors Luke and Meggan will be available to meet with church friends and spend some time with you. This is a special time planned on the first Thursday of each month.

Our Roof Project 2026

Roof Replacement Project Update

The Session is pleased to share that, at its April meeting, it approved a much-needed roof replacement project for several areas of our church building. This decision followed a careful assessment of the roofs’ overall condition. Given the risk of future leaks and the likelihood of continued increases in construction costs, the Session determined that it would be wise to move forward without delay.

We are deeply grateful for the faithful generosity of our congregation and the careful stewardship of our church’s finances. Because of your support, we currently have $36,586 available in our Improvement Fund—resources specifically set aside for projects like this.

After reviewing three separate bids, the Session selected Overhead Solutions as the contractor, as its proposal provided the best overall value and met our needs effectively. The total cost for replacing all shingled roof areas is $50,750. When combined with our existing metal roofing, these improvements should protect our facilities for 20 years or more.

To fully fund the project, we are seeking to close the remaining gap of $14,164. This presents a meaningful opportunity for our congregation to invest in the long-term care and vitality of our church home.

How can you help?

If you feel called to contribute, you may do so by making a donation designated for the “Roof Project” (please note this on the memo line of your check). Every gift—large or small—will make a real difference.

We give thanks for each of you and for the spirit of generosity that continues to sustain and strengthen our church. Together, we are not only maintaining a building but also supporting a place where ministry, fellowship, and growth in Christ can flourish for years to come.

Thank you for your continued support and faithfulness.
