First United Presbyterian Weekly Newsletter

September 3, 2026

Our Vision Statement:

We are a welcoming community FIRST UNITED in proclaiming FAITH in Jesus Christ, sharing HOPE for the future, and inspiring LOVE of our neighbors.

For Love's Sake

Loving God, open our eyes to those around us. Give us courage to speak with truth, hearts ready to forgive, and hands willing to serve. Help us love our neighbors as Christ has loved us, and walk faithfully in your light.

For Love's Sake, make us instruments of your grace. Amen.

Our Neighborhood Library Update:

Thanks to Bill Picard for repainting our "little free library." It looks great and we appreciate your help!

We Need Your Help:

We have another project that we would like to finish Sunday after church and fellowship time - spreading stone around the perimeter of the church. Kevin Spiegel has done a lot of this project (thank you!), but we are in need of a few hands to spread what is left. If you are willing to help, please bring a shovel/wheelbarrow and look for Rex Meyer after church on Sunday.

Pastors in the Parking Lot

Our monthly Pastors in the Parking Lot event is TODAY (9/3) at 10 am. Pastors Luke & Meggan will be available to meet with church friends and spend some time with you. This is a special time planned on the first Thursday of each month.

Be sure to bring yourself a chair!!

Sunday Worship Plans

Join us this Sunday at 9:00 am for worship as we reflect on the call to live faithfully and love our neighbors. Through the words of the prophet Ezekiel 33:7-11 and Paul's letter to the Romans 13:8-14, we will consider what it means to be watchful for one another, to fulfill the law through love, and to live as people who belong to Christ. Our sermon, "For Love's Sake," will invite us to consider how God's love shapes not only our relationship with Him, but also our responsibility toward those around us. Come and worship with us as we seek to live in the light of Christ's love.

Sunday School

Sunday School begins for all ages on Sunday, September 13 at 10:30 am. We are in need of at least one teacher to teach 3rd-5th grade with Pastor Meggan. Please reach out to her if you would like to help. As in our tradition, on that Sunday during worship, we will give age-appropriate Bibles to our pre-k, 3rd grade, and 6th grade students. If you would like your child to receive one, please email Pastor Meggan ASAP with that request and how you would like their name to appear in their Bible.

Help Us Find Pumpkins for Fall Fest!

As we get ready for our upcoming Fall Fest, we're looking for a little help from our congregation.

One of the activities we're planning is pumpkin painting, and we are hoping to find someone in our church family- or someone you know- who grows pumpkins and might be willing to donate pumpkins for the event.

If you know a local pumpkin grower who may be interested in donating pumpkins, please let us know! Even a connection or a name would be greatly appreciated as we work to make this a fun fall activity for everyone.

Thank you for helping us make Fall Fest a wonderful time of fellowship, fun, and community!

Fall Fest

Fall Fest is coming Saturday, September 19, 2026 from 1pm-6pm. What is Fall Fest you ask? An afternoon filled with fun, games for the kids, music bingo, cribbage, a pie walk, tons of raffles, and corn hole. This year we will add a 3-legged race, pumpkin bowling, and pumpkin painting to the afternoon. It promises to be lots of fun! Food tickets are now on SALE!! You can get them after worship or at the church office Monday through Thursday. They are $7.00 for a Brat or Hamburger meal with chips and a cookie.

Hope you can make it!

Cribbage Tournament

Our tournament will start at Noon. If you have a team you would like to register, please sign up TODAY! We would like to have our brackets figured out before Fall Fest starts. It is $30.00 per team and lunch is included!!
