Being a Crosby Scholar is Easy as 1, 2, 3...

As a Crosby Scholar in the Middle School Program - 6th, 7th, and 8th grade - you are expected to complete just three (3) requirements each year:

1. Attend one (1) Crosby Scholars Academy each school year. Registration is required in the Crosby Scholars Student or Parent Portal.

2. Complete and submit two (2) hours of community service by April 24th, 2024.

3. Avoid receiving Out-of-School Suspension.


Visit your Crosby Scholars Student or Parent Portal for more details. The portal is your main resource to stay up to date with all programs and events offered by the Program. Make sure to log in regularly for event registration, requirement completion status, and contact information updates.

Community Service Spotlight

Thanks to all Crosby Scholars who made 70+ no-sew blankets with SPARK!

SPARK (Share Peace and Rekindle Kindness, Inc.) is a non-profit organization that designs and manages community service experiences in order to help our neighbors in need and spread kindness to all.


The no-sew blankets will be given to children who will receive a pair of pajamas, a blanket, and a book in November and December at SPARK's Cozy Bundle Event.

Participating in World Kindness Day is a simple yet impactful way to make a positive difference in the world. Here are ways to get involved:


  • Perform Acts of Kindness: Throughout the day, consciously perform acts of kindness, such as helping a neighbor, complimenting a colleague, or donating to a charity.
  • Spread Positivity: Share uplifting and positive messages on social media to inspire others to be kind and compassionate.
  • Volunteer: Offer your time to volunteer for a local charity or nonprofit organization that aligns with your values.
  • Donate: Make a donation to a charitable cause that you believe in, whether it’s for humanitarian aid, education, or healthcare.
  • Teach Kindness: Educate children and young people about the importance of kindness and empathy through storytelling or classroom activities.
  • Random Acts of Kindness: Surprise someone with a random act of kindness, such as buying a stranger’s coffee or leaving an encouraging note for a friend.

Opportunities Just For You

Crosby Club is an after-school club providing college and career curriculum to middle school students to increase exposure to higher education, as part of the Crosby Scholars Program. It focuses on personal development and exposure to college and career options, as well as community service projects.


The club is currently offered at Philo-Hill, Clemmons, WS/FCS Virtual Academy, Forsyth Academy, Meadowlark, Southeast and Hanes. Do you want to participate? Let us know which of these schools you attend and we will let you know who your Crosby Club Advisor is!

8th Graders: Have You Heard of Early College?

Early College provides the opportunity for students in grades 9 – 12 to earn both a high school diploma and a two-year degree or two years of transferrable credit in four or five years, tuition free.


The Early College application period of the 2024-2025 school year is now open. Applications will be accepted from 10/28/2023 to 01/26/2024.

College Foundation of North Carolina

College Foundation of North Carolina (CFNC) is a free service of the State of North Carolina provided by a collaboration of the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority, Pathways (the University of North Carolina System, the N.C. Community College System, the N.C. Independent Colleges and Universities, and the N.C. Department of Public Instruction) and College Foundation, Inc. CFNC promotes access to N.C. higher education and assists students with education planning, career planning and applying and paying for college.

All Forsyth County Public Library programs are free and open to the public. You do not need a Forsyth County Public Library card to attend library programs. Please call 336-703-3081 for more information on teen programming and resources.

Talking Sticks: Native American Heritage Month Program 

  • Thursday, Nov. 9 from 5-6 p.m. 
  • Central Library Teen Central (second floor) 
  • Ages 9-18. Learn about talking sticks, view examples, make your own. Presented by the Lam Museum of Anthropology.


Game Night 

  • Tuesday, Nov. 14 from 5-7 p.m. 
  • Malloy/Jordan East Winston Heritage Center
  • We are celebrating International Games Month. Get together for some good-natured competition and fun. Try out your skills, challenge others to our video games or relax over a fun board game. 


Adolescent Health: self-esteem and self-awareness 

  • Monday, Nov. 20 from 5-6 p.m. 
  • Central Library- Children's Storytime Room (first floor) 
  • Ages 9-18. Come talk together and do fun hands-on activities about self-esteem and self-awareness. Program led by the Forsyth County Department of Public Health’s Adolescent Health Coordinator.
