AC4C Monthly Roundtable
Greetings from our new
AC4C Youth Coordinator, Alaina Elliott-Wherry!

Hi there!

My name is Alaina Elliott-Wherry, and I am the new Youth Coordinator for AC4C! Here are some personal and professional facts about me:

-I just finished my first year in the Master of Public Health program at the University of Iowa.

-My partner, Ethan, and I currently live in Johnson County but are from Jones County.

-I enjoy yoga, reading, and traveling.

-I am an advocate for health equity and am currently part of a couple different projects centered around advancing health equity.

-While my past and ongoing experience with harm reduction and youth-centered work at UI Student Wellness and the Child Health Specialty Clinics has prepared me well for this role, I look forward to learning from and with AC4C members.

I am excited to begin working with and getting to know all of you! I will be at the retreat later this month, so please say hi and introduce yourself if you see me. 😁

Best,
Alaina

Welcome and thanks for sharing a little information about yourself to help us get to know you, Alaina!

AC4C Work Retreat
June 28-29

The quarterly work retreat will be on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 28 and 29. Both days will be at Camp Dodge Midwest Counterdrug Training Center (MCTC) in Johnston. The theme of the two days will be mostly about assessment.

We are going to take a "field trip" during the afternoon of Day 1, June 28. We will do some environmental scans in the area. For those who cannot come to MCTC in person, but are joining us virtually, you can block out that time to do the field trip (scans) at home.

We'll report back the next morning what we all saw. It should be interesting! We'll talk about how to do this at the retreat before we go out, and we will provide the forms/format.

It will also be the kick-off of the Alcohol Observational Tool that you can use with your coalition this summer. This is aimed at getting data about what is happening around alcohol sales and home delivery, third party delivery, curbside pickup, and to-go cocktails.
