Your Safety is Our First Priority
HPBA, in conjunction with Nashville’s Music City Center, Nashville Convention and Visitors Corporation (CVC), and Freeman, are closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic. As we make plans to meet in person next March, we are actively putting together cleaning and safety protocols for the safety of all of our exhibitors and attendees. This is an on-going process, so be sure to regularly check Nashville’s Music City Center for updates for their health and safety guidelines as well as our website for updates. Freeman has to put together a video on what events of the future may look like, and the Nashville CVC has put together a Good to Go plan for local city businesses.

Sign up for Text Alerts About NSPS Sell-Through for Step 1 Products
With the start of the heating season upon us, we know how busy everyone is with customers. EPA still has not published a Final Rule providing any length of sell-through for Step 1 products. It is still illegal to sell a Step 1 product. The sell-through period would come into effect if and when a Final Rule is published in the Federal Register. Based on the language in the proposal, any sell-through period would likely expire after November 30, 2020.

Keeping an Eye on Gas Bans
HPBA staff is working to build and strengthen coalitions with other trade associations to effectively address the increasing number of initiatives to ban gas in new construction at both local and state levels. This is a major issue for many national trade associations. HPBA staff is at the center of conversations with other trade associations to look for common strategies and coordination.

HPBA is also strengthening ties with the National Propane Gas Association (NPGA). NPGA and HPBA Affiliates share many members, and several HPBA manufacturers are very active in that market. This working relationship will allow our joint memberships to collaboratively address this issue at the state level, meaning all of our resources can stretch a little further. This will be particularly important as state legislators begin filing proposed bills for state legislative sessions that begin in January. We fully expect a flurry of legislative efforts concerning energy choice – ranging from outright bans on gas to prohibitions on states restricting consumers’ fuel choice – in 2021. Covid-19 Resources
We’ve all been challenged this year to find new ways to do business. The HPBA staff continues to work from home, doing our best to support our members. Our manufacturers implemented safety protocols to keep their factories open. And our retailers continue to deal with selling and servicing their products while keeping their employees and customers safe. In support of these efforts, HPBA hosted a couple of webinars this spring with expert advice on meeting these challenges.
