The San Mateo County Fair is a week of fun for the whole family! Members of 4-H, Master Gardeners and Master Food Preservers will be participating with exhibits and demonstrations throughout the fair.
4-H at the Fair
4-H members across the county compete in youth exhibition categories, including
animal showmanship, arts & crafts,
and
food science.
The exhibitors have selected, fed, cared for and groomed these animals in preparation for the
Youth Livestock Show
that is held during the week prior to the auction.
Master Gardeners at the Fair
Master Gardeners will have numerous exhibits and be on-site to answer questions about
home horticulture, pest management,
and
sustainable landscape practices.
Master Food Preservers at the Fair
The San Mateo County Fair offers Master Food Preservers an excellent stage for outreach to the community and the opportunity to pursue their goal of providing
up-to-date, research-based food safety
and

UC Elkus Ranch High School Intern
This spring, Elkus Ranch had the pleasure of hosting high school senior,
Jenna Jaramillo!
Jenna completed a
service learning internship
for her school's senior project. In addition to daily ranch chores, Jenna learned the Sheep to Shawl presentation for the visiting school groups, learning how to
engage youth with agriculture.
Her extensive livestock knowledge from 4-H was valuable and appreciated! Jenna is planning on attending Cal Poly in the Fall to study Animal Science. Thank you for your hard work, Jenna!
