November 2024 Newsletter
Happy November, Casper,
The holiday season is officially upon us here in Central Wyoming which means that our professional and social calendars are filling up fast. As we make our final push in 2024, we have so much to be proud of; from hosting the Casper Start-Up Challenge in house and growing our vibrant business community to successfully relocating thriving entrepreneurs, enhancing quality of life in our city, and so much more. However, the work never ends. & with 2025 in sight - who would want it to?
Moving forward:
- Check out our new & noteworthy section below. Our Equity Analyst, Goose, took some time to share an in depth look at the Economic Development Administration EDA grant we recently applied for, and big things are in the works for venture capital in Wyoming.
-
Livability x Advance Casper are partnering up again in 2025, and we would love to have you join us in sharing Casper's story all while showcasing your brand to business owners, visitors, relocating individuals, and more! Please respond to this email with any questions or schedule a meeting with our Media Rep, Eli.
-
We're always looking to grow our Membership Community. If you are connected with an organizational leader or local business owner in our community who is just as invested in growing Casper as you are, please invite them to our next event or encourage them to join us.
That's it from me. As always please let our team know if you have any questions or need anything. If not, I'll see you all at our Holiday Open House on December 4th!
Best,
Justin

1. Casper Named One of the Most Affordable Places to Retire With Mountain Views and Low Taxes by Daily Mail
Folks have been known to seek out sunny weather and nearby beaches when it comes to moving to retire. However, tides are shifting - especially when it comes to livability and affordability!
According to the Daily Mail, "Casper, Wyoming has been named among the most affordable places for Americans to spend their later years. That is according to WalletHub's latest ranking of the best places to retire. The study ranked 180 US cities across 45 metrics to determine which were the most friendly to retirees, and where they could plan an affordable retirement while maintaining the best quality of life. WalletHub considered factors including the cost of living, the weather, the quality of healthcare, and the number of museums a city has to offer or nearby places to fish. Casper landed in ninth place overall, which was the second highest among Western cities on the list. Casper ranked the third best out of all 180 cities for affordability - which took into account factors including the cost of living, tax friendliness, the cost of in-home services, and the cost of adult health care."

3. State Loan & Investment Board Approves 9 Million Dollar Grant to the City of Evansville for New Mesa Solutions Campus
It's no secret that new construction has taken over Casper. From the WYO Sports Ranch and the halo of new business growth surrounding the facility to flourishing development on Casper Mountain and beyond; our city is facing profound economic expansion. However, the State Loan & Investment Board approving a nearly 9 million dollar grant to the city of Evansville for the new Mesa campus is putting Casper on the map like never before.
The Mesa Solutions project will not only support the construction of a 203,000-square-foot manufacturing plant facility on 206 acres of land off of I-25 and Hat Six Road; but it's expecting the highest number of retained jobs and the highest number of created jobs in Business Committed grant history!
Advance Casper is looking forward to watching the Mesa Solutions project come to life and have a positive impact on our community for generations to come.

4. Inside the Economic Development Administration (EDA) Grant & How We're Building Venture Capital in Wyoming
The Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant has been submitted in partnership with the Wyoming Women's Business Center (WWBC), the Breakthrough307 angel fund, and the Breakthrough Venture Capital venture fund to support and grow the startup ecosystem here in Casper and throughout the state.
Within the grant you'll find:
-
A majority of the money going towards operational costs so that each associated partner can allocate more of their money towards investment in local companies. The Casper Start-Up Challenge is part of this, with the EDA grant ideally supporting: outreach, venue space, media pushes, etc. Upon being accepted, the funds will receive administrative support to offset overhead costs and allow more dollars to be put to work through investing in high-growth startups.
- Money being allocated for travel to regional events focused on networking with investors in the Mountain West. The underlying goal ultimately is to support growing companies by connecting them to regional players in addition to local ones.
- The WWBC is focusing on education, and put an additional mentor into their budget that would be supported by the EDA grant.
- Two conferences were also included to highlight and draw support to certain areas where WY is growing and can use some additional resources. The focus will be two-fold: bringing funders together with growing startups and providing meaningful connections and information to the entrepreneurs that are building companies here in Central WY. Energy companies, especially those in the clean tech and nuclear space, are gaining a strong foothold here, and we want to continue supporting that. There are also a lot of tech-focused and women-owned businesses taking off in Casper and around the state. We want to highlight those as a way to foster more growth in those areas through these conferences.
Thank you to all of our members, stakeholders, and community partners for your support through the application process. Stay tuned for updates on our progress!
