Grief can be a very dark place. In the aftermath of a devastating injury, illness or a work-related death, many are overwhelmed by physical and emotional pain. But through your support for Threads of Life, whether as a volunteer, sponsor, partner or participant, you are bringing light into that dark place for thousands of Canadians. One of the most hopeful impacts we see is the many family members who, after being helped by Threads of Life, become volunteers themselves so they can help others. Tami Helgeson says she was “very lost” after her son Eric was killed while working on a construction site in Winnipeg. But today she is a Threads of Life speaker, a volunteer family guide and a Steps for Life volunteer and fundraiser. And every time she speaks about the importance of safety, she feels she makes “such a horrible thing into something positive”. Read a profile of Tami, and feel inspired knowing you’ve helped to make her healing possible.
