Checking out the Comedy Scene here on the Big Island!
Mark and I have been entertaining ourselves and getting acquainted with the Comedy Scene here on the Big Island --- the first show we went to was in Honokaa, a small community north of Waimea about 2 hours from Kailua Kona ---- it was held in the Peoples Theater which was built in 1930 – it has a 525 seat theater and they present films, concerts, dance recitals and classes --- and great comedy gigs! Our friend, Laura Reid was one of four comedians we saw in their show on Saturday, May 8th. Laura is a well-known public speaker and presenter here in Hawaii and this was the first time we have seen her do comedy! Great Talent! Check out her FB page https://www.facebook.com/lpreid
The show was organized thru Pineapples Comedy, who is managed by
Katie Lynn and Yasir Bey, both of which starred in the show we saw on May 8th! Yasir and Katie met in 2018 and started doing comedy simultaneously! Together they produce, host and perform numerous shows around the Big Island of Hawaii every month – check out their website www.pineapplescomedy.com for upcoming events and tickets!
We then checked out the local Kona Elks Lodge 2616 here in Kailua – we saw James Mane [The Average Samoan Comedy Tour] show --- we had never been to the Elks here in Kailua – and they have a 200-seat theater in their new location on Hualalai Road. This show was managed by Hawaii Top Comics, Jesse Mumma being the host and comedian as well! A very entertaining show! Check out their FB page https://www.facebook.com/hawaiitopcomics/ for tickets and upcoming events! Every Tuesday, at the Elks Lodge – Tuesday Taco Comedy!
