A Reminder to clubs that you need at least 1 member from your club to attend a seminar. Many clubs have completed or will soon be completing their District Community Grant projects. This is a reminder to please send in your grant report as soon as possible after the project is complete so we can approve the report and get your check out to you.

Now is the time for your club to start thinking about projects you will be doing in the next Rotary year. The deadline for submission for District Community Grants funded by District Designated Funds for the 2025-2026 Rotary year is 31 May 2025, however we encourage clubs to submit your application as soon as possible.

NEWS FLASH: ONLY 65 REGISTRATIONS LEFT FOR DISCON 2025

Don’t miss this opportunity to join DG Nick and celebrate our wonderful Rotary family of District 6400 at the St Clair Centre for the Arts in Windsor, Ontario. Our conference kicks off at 5pm on Friday May 30th and concludes at noon on June 1st. You can register at https://rotary6400.org/?page_id=13691

Conference hotel rooms at the DoubleTree Hilton are almost sold out. Rooms at the Best Western attached to the Conference centre can be booked at 519-973-5555. Use the Promo Code 2505ROTAR to access special conference pricing. Please note that the Conference is the same weekend as the Detroit Grand Prix in Downtown Detroit so crossing the border via the tunnel will be challenging. We recommend that attendees use the bridge. While you are welcome to sleep in your own bed, Michigan members may want to consider reserving a hotel room to avoid congestion.

Friday evening will feature an amazing concert at the historic Capitol Theatre in Windsor. Stay tuned for a BIG concert event announcement later this month. Entry to the concert is included for all registrants. If you want to bring friends or family to only the concert, tickets are $75 Canadian each and are preferentially being offered to conference registrants before being opened to the public. The concert will also be our Conference Service Project. Donations in kind or cash/credit cards (preferred) will be collected at the Theatre to support food insecurity and basic education and literacy projects. More details to follow.

Registered attendees can sign up for a chance to take a two hour cruise on the Detroit River on Saturday afternoon. An email will be sent to all registrants on February 1st to determine who would like to take the cruise. Only 180 spots are available on a first come/first serve basis. Others can explore Windsor/Essex or take a rest before a busy night!

On Saturday night, we will honour the woman who was at the forefront of the Supreme Court case to allow women to join Rotary - Sylvia Whitlock. The effervescent Sylvia will be celebrating her 90th birthday with us and we are thrilled that she will be joining us. Come for the party and have a piece birthday cake too!

Sunday morning features a poignant opportunity to reflect upon members who have passed in the last year. We will then transition into a closing session with internationally renowned speakers, entertainment and a big finish!

Hope to see you there!

DG Nick would like to honor all club members who passed away this year at Discon 2025 in Windsor. A Remembrance Ceremony will be held as part of the closing ceremonies on June 1st. This has traditionally been a beautiful time of fellowship for attendees. If your club experienced a loss this Rotary year, please forward a photo and name of the member who passed via Dropbox; https://www.dropbox.com/request/7C3iRyTKR7YxVSkfBK3v. Please be sure to name the jpeg file in this format: ClubLastFirst.jpg. As in DetroitJonesBill.jpg. Please contact Erin H. Dobbins for further details or assistance: erindobbins209@gmail.com, text or call (734) 558-3228.

CALIFORNIA WILDFIRES--HOW YOU CAN HELP

District 5280 has created a Wildfires Resource Page so all our clubs, members and partnering Districts can make a monetary donation, make resources available to those in need, seek resources and provide collaborative support in the ways of meals, water, blankets, etc.

#Rotary District 5280 sends you a big THANK YOU for your emails, phone calls, texts and more.

In the past few days we’ve received so much love that has turned into action. We’ve supported local agencies who are on the frontlines, we developed a Rotarian Relief Fund for our Rotarians who’ve lost so much.

And we established a Disaster Relief Grant for our clubs to conduct service projects that directly support the impacted areas and our first responders.

Thank you, Rotary World, for standing with us in this critical time. Your support fuels our mission to serve and rebuild lives.
