A Note from the Pastor
Congratulations to Tyler Lee!  On Sunday the church voted 95.4% to call him to serve as our Associate Worship Pastor. Tyler will oversee the media team and will assist Lee in various music responsibilities. It’s great to add a young man to our staff. Tyler and his wife Hanna will be with us this Sunday. We’ll find ways to welcome them more formally in the next few weeks. Please begin praying for them as they transition to First, Hot Springs.

Another Upward season is in the books.  Wallace Yamauchi and his incredible team put together another stellar season for the kids. If you’ve been an Upward leader or volunteer this season, thank you so much for investing in kids and their families. The gospel was shared several times to children, parents, and grandparents. In a new dimension, the season ended with parents blessings their kids after the final game. I appreciate Wallace’s adaptability to changing conditions on the child-basketball front in Hot Springs. Upward is a viable gospel platform, and God is using it.

Ash Wednesday service for the whole church family is this Wednesday, March 6, at 6:00 in the sanctuary.  This will be the fourth year we’ve done this. You respond so positively to it. It’s a good way to begin our move toward the cross and resurrection of Jesus. (And just a reminder: my usual Wednesday night Bible study will only be at 6:00 starting March 13.)

As we continue On the Move with Jesus through the Gospel of Mark, we’ll make a stop this week in chapter 2. Remember those four friends who loaded up their crippled friend and brought him to Jesus, letting him down through the roof? Let’s explore that story this Sunday. What is Jesus up to—forgiving sins or healing the sick or both? See you Sunday.

Your Pastor,
John

Education / Outreach Ministry
Who Will You Invite?!
Thanks to Katy Wreyford we have some Easter cards. These are to remind us to be thinking and praying about who we will invite to a choice of three Easter services on April 21. These are available at all welcome centers. Soon we will also have some invite cards to use. Who will you be thinking and praying about?
Spring forward. Remember to set your clocks forward Saturday night. This is also a good time to contact your Connect Group members and prospects and remind them to reset their clocks and come on to your group!
Gambling Addiction Support Group
Would anyone be interested in talking with me about the possibility of starting a Gambling Addiction Support Group? This could be an important outreach and ministry much needed in our community. I have curriculum available to help.
