St. Croix Valley Pottery Tour: A Celebration of Art and Nature

On March 9th, Executive Director Nancy Hoffman captivated an audience of over 200 real estate professionals at the RE Journal Land Development Conference. The event was a resounding success, with a packed room and significant interest in the Highway 8 strategic framework completed in 2022.

This comprehensive study, conducted in anticipation of the major Highway 8 reconstruction, outlines exciting opportunities for commercial, industrial, retail, and housing development. The framework provides a clear vision for the future growth and development along this crucial corridor.

On March 21st, the Chisago County HRA-EDA hosted a highly engaging Housing Summit, bringing together over 35 participants, including city representatives, bankers, housing developers and other housing partner resources. The event centered around the findings of the 2024 Maxfield Research Housing Study, which provided valuable data on housing trends and needs.

The summit featured lively discussions on how cities can leverage this data to attract new housing developments. Several housing developers shared their experiences and highlighted the challenges of developing areas north of the Twin Cities. They emphasized that without financial support from city, county, or state levels, such developments would be difficult to achieve.

This collaborative event underscored the importance of partnerships and proactive strategies in addressing housing needs. Cities will now be providing site data to the HRA-EDA to enhance marketing efforts for the county, aiming to attract more housing projects.
