City of Lindstrom was awarded a Redevelopment Grant through DEED!

A blighted part of Lindstrom will be getting a face-lift after a grant application submitted to the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) by the City of Lindstrom in partnership with the Chisago County HRA-EDA was awarded. The $200,000 Redevelopment Grant will help with the purchase of the property and demolition of the existing building that was deemed blighted.

The City of Lindstrom and HRA-EDA are working to bring businesses and a multi-family housing development to the site. With the grant, the land can be sold at competitive prices.

Possible Plans for the Old Elms Estate Property:

Traveling on Highway 8 through Lindstrom, you may have noticed the clearing of manufactured homes on the west end of downtown known as Elms Estate. The landowner has determined that it was time to sell, creating an opportunity for development. The Lindstrom EDA also purchased a property abutting Elms Estate that may be part of a new development.

The Lindstrom EDA had a concept plan created for the site (shown above) but are open to other commercial or mixed-use development ideas. To inquire about the site, you may contact City Administrator John Olinger 651.257.0625

Patron Tour of North Branch School District

On November 4th, staff from the HRA-EDA and the new Community Development Director from the City of North Branch toured the entire North Branch School District and their facilities.

This was the most interesting, enlightening, and enjoyable experience. First, the staff were incredibly kind and knowledgeable about the community's needs, student education and exploring new ways to educate students of all ages. The school excels at its career pathways program and offers the “Bridges” program to provide mentorship and apprenticeship opportunities for students and business.

We were able to tour all the school's facilities, including the bus garage that is now owned by 4.0 Transportation. These facilities were well organized, clean and the new additions to all the schools were well thought out to create a better learning space for students. To end the tour, we experienced the culinary program offered in high school. The food was amazing, and the students were impressive with their professional demeanor. A special thanks goes out to all the staff in the North Branch School District - Keep up the good work!
