Weekend of Welcome Leaders, known as WoWies, are undergraduates who assist the Office of New Student & Family Programs in implementing (in-person) Weekend of Welcome at Saint Mary’s College. Weekend of Welcome Leaders play a crucial and important role in welcoming new students and their families onto campus and helping them build community by facilitating participation in scheduled events during Weekend of Welcome and acting as a Saint Mary’s resource. This position requires full participation in WoW Training and Weekend of Welcome.
Responsibilities and Requirements:
- Assist New Student and Family Programs with the preparation and facilitation of all activities for in-person Weekend of Welcome;
- Serve as a group leader for 15-25 students during Weekend of Welcome activities;
- Guide and motivate students toward the variety of involvement opportunities Student Life offers;
- Supervise Weekend of Welcome activities, both on and off campus, and enforce college policies during all programs and events;
- Work cooperatively alongside Residential Experience and Campus Housing to assist new students with move-in;
- Serve as a general resource for new students, families, and campus departments.
- Minimum of 2.0 GPA;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, professionalism, teamwork, a prompt and dependable work ethic;

Students and Employees entering the facility will be asked to be prepared to show the “Safe” checkmark via the Daily Health Screening, check-in with the Campus Rec App and use hand sanitizer upon entering and throughout their visit. They are expected to follow all Joseph L. Alioto policies and the Campus-Wide Health & Safety Protocols
