DALLAS AFTERSCHOOL NEWS
PREPARING PROGRAMS TO SAFELY REOPEN
Last week, we hosted a virtual roundtable on Reopening Recommendations and Protocols for Education-Based Agencies. During this dynamic session, Dallas Afterschool shared our Reopening Recommendations. Participants also heard from guest speaker, Jodi Newman of The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas on how they have safely remained open to serve first responders.

You can access the roundtable recording (password: 9o*S@h?9) or email mmurat@dallasafterschool.org to sign up for a future roundtable session .
NEED PPE?
Dalla s Afterschool is helping our partner programs acquire Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the safety of children and educators as programs reopen. We have been working with a distribution company to provide access to PPE and discounts on items like face masks, gloves, and cleaning supplies.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO
Christina K. Hanger
Shortly after Dallas began to shelter in place, it was clear our organization needed a model for how we would respond and reemerge. I recently shared what we are calling our "5R model" in a guest blog post for Afterschool Alliance to illustrate how we are helping to build a new future for out-of-school time.

During this time of fear, despair and grief over recent actions that highlight racism in our society, know that at Dallas Afterschool we will continue to work tirelessly to level the playing field for children of all races and economic backgrounds. This has been our mission for 13 years and we are committed more than ever to provide all children and their families equal opportunities as we work together toward building a more just society while coping with the challenges of the coronavirus.
DALLAS AFTERSCHOOL IS OFFERING FREE TRAINING THIS WEEK
To help all out-of-school time providers, we are opening up our trainings to non-partners for FREE this week only. Topics include: Safety & Behavior Guidance in a Virtual World, Age Appropriate Activities, Virtual Engagement, and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Basics. Learn more HERE.
To all who chose to support Dallas Afterschool and our COVID-19 response efforts on North Texas Giving Tuesday, thank you! We are humbled by your generosity as we continue to transform the lives of children in our community.
