DALLAS AFTERSCHOOL NEWS
BUILDING A BETTER FUTURE
At Dallas Afterschool, we envision a community with the resources and support to provide equally for all children beyond time spent at school. In order to realize this, we must continue to expand our knowledge on racial equity while offering support and training to our network of partners.

This month, we partnered with the Racial Equity Institute (REI) to host an enthralling three-hour Groundwater Training to build a practical understanding of structural racism. This training was provided to our entire Dallas Afterschool team and our board of directors. We were also pleased to offer this training to our program partners free of charge.

In addition, we have two upcoming opportunities for partners. We will begin our Racial Reconciliation in OST cohort group on October 14th and our new Fostering Social Justice through 21st Century Skills training on October 30th.

THEIR FUTURE, OUR PRIORITY.
A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO
Christina K. Hanger
It's hard to believe it is already October. As I reflect upon everything happening in the world today, I am very proud of the work Dallas Afterschool has done over the years - and continues to do - on the topic of racial equity. We work everyday to level the playing field for children of all races and economic backgrounds and we will continue to do the hard work necessary to help build a more just future.

We appreciate your support and encouragement as we work to build a new, more equitable future for out-of-school time.
IT'S ALMOST TIME FOR LOA!
#LightsOnAfterschool (LOA) is a nationwide celebration that "shines a light" on the importance of afterschool. This year, we are partnering with Mayor's Star Council for an exciting virtual event on October 22nd.
PARTNERING TO INCREASE AWARENESS
The recent pandemic has had a unique impact on the Out-of-School Time community. Join us on October 20th for a stimulating virtual discussion on the important role these programs play in education, the future workforce, and in our communities.

Thank you to our friends at Children's Health for partnering and making this event possible!
