“As I embark upon my two-year term as ISTAT president, I am reflecting on the remarkable history of this organization. We should all be proud of what ISTAT has accomplished during these 40 years and how something that began as a loosely organized group of friends and colleagues now achieves so much for its individual members and member companies across the industry. I hope you were able to see the 40th-anniversary display at ISTAT Americas in San Diego, which showcased so many of the dedicated aviation leaders who developed ISTAT into a thriving organization. Thank you all for being part of that history and preparing for the next chapter.” |

The Summer Issue of Jetrader is live! Inside, you’ll find a Q&A with Doug Parker, former CEO of American Airlines. We spoke to Parker shortly before his retirement from the American Airlines Board of Directors about his time as an airline CEO during various global crises, his thoughts on consolidation, fuel hedging and more.
Also included in this issue are recaps of ISTAT Americas in San Diego and ISTAT Asia in Bangkok, and an article titled “The Cost of Net Zero” that asserts that sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and offsets are here to stay but that SAF supply will likely continue to remain limited and fares may rise.

The ISTAT Foundation Nominating Committee is accepting nominations for two (2) positions that will become available on the ISTAT Foundation Board of Trustees in March 2024. Nominees must be ISTAT members in good standing. Additional information on the election process can be found in the ISTAT Foundation Bylaws under Article V.

There’s Less Than a Month to Apply for the 2023 Humanitarian Aid Program
The ISTAT Foundation continues to accept applications for its Humanitarian Aid program. Please share this information with organizations who could benefit from this support. Humanitarian Aid Program applications will be accepted through Monday, 7 August.

Applications Open for ISTAT U 2.0
If you know a student interested in a career in aviation finance and leasing, the ISTAT Foundation’s online program, ISTAT U 2.0, is now accepting applications. The 2023-2024 program starts 16 October, and applications must be submitted by 8 September.

Congratulations to the New ISTAT Certified Appraisers
Andy Krantz, director of Valuations at ACI Aviation Consulting; Benjamin Chiam, senior manager – aircraft sales and trading, portfolio strategy at Air Lease; Hashen Hewawasam, head of commercial aircraft valuation at IBA; Elvis Kongolo, senior aviation analyst at IBA; and Dezhi Zhu, senior manager – portfolio management and pricing at Aercap, joined the ranks of ISTAT Certified Appraisers, having completed the certification process in June.
