A BIG THANK YOU!

We had a very successful Pumpkin Patch this year thanks to all the many volunteers that helped. It was truly a complete church effort, and I believe we were successful in touching our community again! I’ll try to summarize the fast 5 weeks of the patch…

First Pumpkin Patch by the numbers:

  • 35 days – the number of days the patch was open which equates to 105 shifts needing to be manned
  • 46 Volunteers worked shifts at the patch (most in recent years)
  • 19 National Honor Society (NHS) students volunteered at the patch from both SM North and SM Northwest high schools. This is a first.
  • 4 GREAT Saturday Events attended by 100’s & 100’s of kids and adults from the community
  • $23,000 of pumpkins sold (35% commission since we sold over $20,000)
  • Over $1,000 in donations and tip

All this couldn’t happen without some special volunteers . A special thanks to:

  • United Methodist Men (UMM) for set ups and tear downs, and Jim Hammons for orchestrating the Bouncy House many weekends.
  • Marianne D’Amato – for coordinating all the Banners and Printed Collateral (recipe books and coloring pages). And being the liaison for the Girl Scouts Painting in the Patch
  • Mike Webb – for coordinating the Bark & Boo Event getting the K-9 dog handlers and Newfoundland dog group to attend
  • Athena & Tom Sullivan – for setting up the Photo Area, creating the Bark & Boo crafts, & coordinating the Coffee in the Patch.
  • Charla Nichols & Mary McCoy – for coordinating both the very successful Family Fun Day and Trunk-or-Treat Events
  • Gina D’Amato - for communicating to the High Schools for NHS volunteers
  • Charla Nichols again - for creating the Sign-Up Genius for shift sign-ups online
  • Mary McCoy again - for handling the daily money and reporting of sales to the patch folks. Helping me out greatly.

I’m sure I missed someone so my apologies, but it couldn’t have been so successful without all our volunteers.

In polling some of the shift workers it appears that this year it’s an even 50/50 split between customers being First Timers and loyal Repeat Customers. Overall, we’re making a positive impact on the community!

Thanks for a great Pumpkin season!

Until next year,

Steve D’Amato
