Dear Shawnee UMC Family,

Please join us this Sunday for Worship

in-person or on Facebook Live at 10:30am.

The Scripture for Pastor Changsu's message will be:

Mark 4:39-41

39 He woke up and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, ‘Peace! Be still!’ Then the wind ceased, and there was a dead calm. 40 He said to them, ‘Why are you afraid? Have you still no faith?’ 41 And they were filled with great awe and said to one another, ‘Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?’

The Tuesday Lectionary Group invites you to share some of your favorite scriptures, which we will then share with all members.

Please email them to:

maryann13fenstermacher@gmail.com.

Here are this week's scriptures for study and meditation:

Mark 16:9-14 After Jesus rose up early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons. She went and reported to the ones who had been with him, who were mourning and weeping. But even after they heard the news, they didn't believe that Jesus was alive and that Mary had seen him. After that he appeared in a different form to two of them who were walking along in the countryside. When they returned, they reported it to the others, but they didn't believe them. Finally he appeared to the eleven while they were eating. Jesus criticized their unbelief and stubbornness because they didn't believe those who saw him after he was raised up. He said to them, "Go into the world and proclaim the good news to every creature..."

Exodus 13:8-10 "...You should explain to your child on that day,'It's because of what the Lord did for me when I came out of Egypt.' It will be a sign on your hand and a reminder on your forehead so that you will often discuss the Lord's Instruction, for the Lord brought you out of Egypt with great power. So you should follow this regulation at its appointed time every year..."

1 Corinthians 10:14-17 So then, my dear friends, run away from the worship of false gods! I'm talking to you like you are sensible people. Think about what I'm saying. Isn't the cup of blessing that we bless a sharing in the blood of Christ? Isn't the loaf of bread that we break a sharing in the body of Christ? Since there is one loaf of bread, we who are many are one body, because we all share one loaf of bread.

Psalm 22:27-31 Every part of the earth will remember and come back to the Lord; every family among all the nations will worship you. Because the right to rule belongs to the Lord, he rules all nations. Indeed, all the earth's powerful will worship him; all who are descending to the dust will kneel before him; my being also lives for him. Future descendants will serve him; generations to come will be told about the Lord. They will proclaim God's righteousness to those not yet born, telling them what God has done.
