Dear Shawnee UMC Family,

Please join us this Sunday for Worship

in-person or on Facebook Live at 10:30am.

The Tuesday Lectionary Group invites you to share some of your favorite scriptures, which we will then share with all members.

Please email them to:

maryann13fenstermacher@gmail.com.

Isaiah 11:12-16 God will raise a signal for the nations and gather the outcast men of Israel. God will collect the dispersed women of Judah from the four corners of the earth. Ephraim's jealousy will cease, and Judah's harassment will be eliminated. Ephraim won't be jealous of Judah, and Judah won't harass Ephraim. But they will swoop down on the slopes of Philistia to the west; together they will plunder the people to the east. Edom and Moab will be under their power, and the Ammonites will be their subjects. The Lord will split the tongue of the Egyptian sea. God will wave a hand over the Euphrates with a powerful wind and break it into seven streams so that it can be crossed in sandals. Then there will be a

highway from Assyria for the survivors of God's people who are left from Assyria, just as there was from Israel on the day they went up from the land of Egypt.

Psalm 25:11-18 Please, for the sake of your good name, Lord, forgive my sins, which are many. Where are the ones who honor the Lord? God will teach them which path to take. They will live a good life, and their descendants will possess the land. The Lord counsels them who honor him; he makes his covenant known to them. My eyes are always looking to the Lord because he will free my feet from the net. Turn to me, God, and have mercy on me because I'm alone and suffering. My heart's troubles keep getting bigger —set me free from my distress! Look at my suffering and trouble—forgive all my sins!

Luke 1:59-64 On the eighth day, it came time to circumcise the child. They wanted to name him Zechariah, because that was his father's name. But his mother replied, “No, his name will be John.” They said to her, “None of your relatives have that name.” Then they began gesturing to his father to see what he wanted to call him. After asking for a tablet, he surprised everyone by writing, “His name is John.” At that moment, Zechariah was able to speak again, and he began praising God.

Philippians 2:5-11 Adopt the attitude that was in Christ Jesus: Though he was in the form of God, he did not consider being equal with God something to exploit. But he emptied himself by taking the form of a slave and by becoming like human beings. When he found himself in the form of a human, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore, God highly honored him and gave him a name above all names, so that at the name of Jesus everyone in heaven, on earth, and everyone under the earth .might bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

PRAYER REQUESTS

If you would like the prayer team to pray for you or anyone you have concerns for, please email Julie Italiano at

jbitaliano4@gmail.com. She will send it on to the prayer team.

You may also send prayer requests to Connie Perry in the office at connie@shawneeumc.org, or call the office at (913) 631-2280.

You may also pick up a paper copy of the prayer list at the church.

HEIFER PROJECT

So far all of you at Shawnee UMC have donated $8,335.00 to the Heifer Project this year. If we donate another $1,665.00 we will have donated enough money to represent 2 arks. That would be fantastic.

Warren Livingston will not be at a table on Sunday, but he will be around the church and would certainly be willing to take checks, made out to SUMC, for the Heifer Project.
