Hosea 2:16-23 On that day, says the Lord, you will call me “My husband,” and no longer will you call me “My Lord.” I will take away the names of the Baals from her mouth, and they will not be mentioned by name any more. On that day I will make a covenant for them with the wild animals, the birds in the sky, and the creeping creatures of the fertile ground. I will do away with the bow, the sword, and war from the land; I will make you lie down in safety. I will take you for my wife forever; I will take you for my wife in righteousness and justice; in devoted love, and in mercy. I will take you for my wife in faithfulness; and you will know the Lord. On that day I will answer, says the Lord. I will answer the heavens and they will answer the earth. The earth will answer the corn, the new wine, and the fresh oil, and they will answer Jezreel; I will sow him for myself in the land; and I will have compassion on No Compassion, and I will say to Not My People, “You are my people”; and he will say, “You are my God.”
Psalm 85:4-7 You, the God who can save us, restore us! Stop being angry with us! Will you be mad at us forever? Will you prolong your anger from one generation to the next? Won't you bring us back to life again so that your people can rejoice in you? Show us your faithful love, Lord! Give us your salvation!
Acts 19:11-15 God was doing unusual miracles through Paul. Even the small towels and aprons that had touched his skin were taken to the sick, and their diseases were cured and the evil spirits left them. There were some Jews who traveled around throwing out evil spirits. They tried to use the power of the Lord Jesus against some people with evil spirits. They said, “In the name of the Jesus whom Paul preaches, I command you!” The seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. The evil spirit replied, “I know Jesus and I'm familiar with Paul, but who are you?”
Luke 4:14-22 Jesus turned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and the news of him spread through the whole countryside. He taught in their synagogues and was praised by everyone. Jesus went to Nazareth where he had been raised. On the Sabbath he went to the synagogue as he normally did and stood up to read. The synagogue assistant gave him the scroll from the prophet Isaiah. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written: The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me. He has sent me to preach good news to the poor, to proclaim release to the prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, to liberate the oppressed, and to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor. He rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the synagogue assistant, and sat down. Every eye in the synagogue was fixed on him. He began to explain to them, “Today, this scripture has been fulfilled just as you heard it.” Everyone was raving about Jesus, so impressed were they by the gracious words flowing from his lips. They said, “This is Joseph's son, isn't it?”
