Jeremiah 23:1-6 Watch out, you shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture, declares the Lord. This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, proclaims about shepherds who “tend to” my people: You are the ones who have scattered my flock and driven them away. You haven't attended to their needs, so I will take revenge on you for the terrible things you have done to them, declares the Lord. I myself will gather the few remaining sheep from all the countries where I have driven them. I will bring them back to their pasture, and they will be fruitful and multiply. I will place over them shepherds who care for them.
They will no longer be afraid or dread harm, nor will any be missing, declares the Lord. The time is coming, declares the Lord, when I will raise up a righteous descendant from David's line, and he will rule as a wise king. He will do what is just and right in the land. During his lifetime, Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. And his name will be The Lord Is Our Righteousness.
Psalm 34:11-18 Come, children, listen to me. Let me teach you how to honor the Lord: Do you love life; do you relish the chance to enjoy good things? Then you must keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies! Turn away from evil! Do good! Seek peace and go after it! The Lord's eyes watch the righteous, his ears listen to his cries for help. But the Lord's face is set against those who do evil, to eliminate even the memory of them from the earth. When the righteous cry out, the Lord listens; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he saves those whose spirits are crushed.
Romans 10:17-21 So, faith comes from listening, but it's listening by means of Christ's message. But I ask you, didn't they hear it? Definitely! Their message has gone out into the entire earth, and their message has gone out into the corners of the inhabited world. But I ask you again, didn't Israel understand? First, Moses says, I will make you jealous of those who aren't a people, of a people without understanding. And Isaiah even dares to say, I was found by those who didn't look for me; I revealed myself to those who didn't ask for me. But he says about Israel, All day long I stretched out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people.
John 9:35-41 Jesus heard that they had expelled the man born blind. Finding him, Jesus said, “Do you believe in the Human One?” He answered, “Who is he, Sir? I want to believe in him.” Jesus said, “You have seen him. In fact, he is the one speaking to you.” The man said, “Lord, I believe.” And he worshipped Jesus. Jesus said, “I have come into the world to exercise judgment so that those who don't see can see and those who see will become blind.”
Some Pharisees who were with him heard what he said and asked, “Surely we aren't blind, are we?” Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you wouldn't have any sin, but now that you say, 'We see,' your sin remains.
