Dear Shawnee UMC Family,

Please join us for Worship

this Sunday

in-person or on Facebook Live at 10:30am.

We will be observing Holy Communion

and All Saints Day

Pastor Changsu's sermon Scriptures will be

John 10:11-16

‘I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired hand, who is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away—and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. The hired hand runs away because a hired hand does not care for the sheep. I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father. And I lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd.

and Luke 15:3-6

So he told them this parable: ‘Which one of you, having a hundred sheep and losing one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one that is lost until he finds it? When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders and rejoices. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, “Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.”

The Tuesday Lectionary Group invites you to share some of your favorite scriptures, which we will then share with all members.

Please email them to:

Here are this week's scriptures for study and meditation:

Zephaniah 1:7-9 Hush before the Lord God, for the day of the Lord is near! The Lord has established a sacrifice; he has made holy those he has summoned. On the day of the Lord's sacrifice, I will punish the princes, the king's sons, and all those wearing foreign clothes. I will punish the one leaping on the threshold on that day, those filling the house of their master with violence and deceit.

Zephaniah 1:18-2:3 Moreover, their silver and their gold won't be able to deliver them on the day of the Lord's fury. His jealousy will devour the entire land with fire; he will make an end, a truly horrible one, for the inhabitants of the land. Gather together and assemble yourselves, shameless nation, before the decision is made--the day vanishes like chaff--before the burning anger of the Lord comes against you, before the day of the Lord's anger comes against you. Seek the Lord, all you humble of the land who practice his justice; seek righteousness; seek humility. Maybe you will be hidden on the day of the Lord's anger.

Revelation 14:12-13 This calls for the endurance of the saints, who keep God's commandments and keep faith with Jesus. And I heard a voice from heaven say, "Write this:Favored are the dead who die in the Lord from now on." "Yes," says the Spirit, "so they can rest from their labors, because their deeds follow them."

Psalm 82:1-4 God takes his stand in the divine council; he gives judgement among the gods: "How long will you judge unjustly by granting favor to the wicked? Give justice to the lowly and orphan; maintain the right of the poor and destitute! Rescue the lowly and needy. Deliver them from the power of the wicked!..."

Luke 12:54-59 Jesus said to the crowds, "When you see a cloud forming in the west, you immediately say, 'It's going to rain.' And indeed it does. And when a south wind blows, you say, 'A heat wave is coming.' And it does. Hypocrites! You know how to interpret conditions on earth and in the sky. How is it that you don't know how to interpret the present time? And why don't you judge for yourselves what is right? As you are going to court with your accuser, make your best effort to reach a settlement along the way. Otherwise, your accuser may bring you before the judge, and the judge hand you over to the officer, and the officer throw you into prison. I tell you, you will not get out of there until you have paid the very last cent."

6pm-8pm

Shawnee United Methodist Church

Please call Warren Livingston or the church office if you are interested in attending this one evening session.

Early Birds will be hosting on November 19th at 9:30AM a no-sew fleece throw get together to make fleece blankets for elementary age children to be included in the Christmas store at Crosslines and/or

Shawnee Community Center.

Each blanket will need 1 1/2 yards of fleece. Please bring scissors and ruler to the event to fringe the blankets. When choosing the fleece, look at patterns that would appeal to children. If anyone feels they cannot participate but would like to donate fleece or money, we would be glad to receive these gifts. An FYI, watch store sales on fleece as it is the season for it to be on sale.

We are also asking the congregation to donate books that would appeal to elementary children to go with the fleece blankets. What better way to read a book than bundled up in a nice warm blanket!

Any questions, please contact Vickie Hammons or Ophelia Behee.
