Dear Shawnee UMC Family,

Please join us this Sunday for Worship

in-person or on Facebook Live at 10:30am.

RECEPTION FOR PASTOR CHANGSU AND FAMILY

Sunday, June 1st will be the Kim family's last day with us.

Following the service, please join us for a good-bye reception of hugs, tears, cards and cupcakes.

There will be baskets provided for your cards to the Kim family.

Changsu, Sue, Irene and Joshua Kim, your time with us has been much too short.

The Tuesday Lectionary Group invites you to share some of your favorite scriptures, which we will then share with all members.

Please email them to:

maryann13fenstermacher@gmail.com.

Psalm 145:14-18 The Lord supports all who fall down, straightens up all who are bent low. All eyes look to you, hoping, and you give them their food right on time, opening you hand and satisfying the desire of every living thing. The Lord is righteous in all his ways, faithful in all his deeds. The Lord is close to everyone who calls out to him, to all who call out to him sincerely.

Jeremiah 33:10-12 The Lord proclaims: You have said about this place, “It is a wasteland, without humans or animals.” Yet in the ravaged and uninhabited towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem, the sounds of joy and laughter and the voices of the bride and bridegroom will again be heard. So will the voices of those who say, as thank offerings are brought to the Lord's temple, “Give thanks to the Lord of heavenly forces, for the Lord is good and his kindness lasts forever.” I will bring back the captives of this land as they were before, says the Lord. The Lord of heavenly forces proclaims: This wasteland, without humans or animals—and all its towns—will again become pastures for shepherds to care for their flocks.

Luke 8:35-39 People came to see what had happened. They came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons had gone. He was sitting at Jesus' feet, fully dressed and completely sane. They were filled with awe. Those people who had actually seen what had happened told them how the demon-possessed man had been delivered. Then everyone gathered from the region of Gerasenes and asked Jesus to leave their area because they were overcome with fear. So he got into the boat and returned across the lake. The man from whom the demons had gone begged to come along with Jesus as one of his disciples. Jesus sent him away, saying, “Return home and tell the story of what God has done for you.” So he went throughout the city proclaiming what Jesus had done for him.

Romans 15:1-6 We who are powerful need to be patient with the weakness of those who don't have power, and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please our neighbors for their good in order to build them up. Christ didn't please himself, but, as it is written, The insults of those who insulted you fell on me. Whatever was written in the past was written for our instruction so that we could have hope through endurance and through the encouragement of the scriptures. May the God of endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude toward each other, similar to Christ Jesus' attitude. That way you can glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ together with one voice.

Shawl recipients range from new parents to those experiencing serious illness or the loss of a loved one. We depend on you to refer us to future recipients.

Please join us on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 7:00 PM in the Common Ground. We can offer to teach you to knit or crochet. We also have a limited supply of yarn, knitting needles and crochet hooks to get you started. For more info., please call Sherry Hutchison, 913-205-5131.
