Deuteronomy 6:1-9 Now these are the commandments, the regulations, and the case laws that the Lord your God has commanded me to teach you to follow in the land you are entering to possess, so that you will fear the Lord your God by keeping his regulations and his commandment that I am commanding you—both you and your sons and daughters—all the days of your life so that you will lengthen your life. Listen to them, Israel! Follow them carefully so that things will go well for you and so that you will continue to multiply exactly as the Lord, your ancestors' God, promised you, in a land full of milk and honey. Israel, listen! Our God is the Lord! Only the Lord! Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your being, and all your strength. These words that I am commanding you today must always be on your minds. Recite them to your children. Talk about them when your are sitting around your house, when your are out and about, when you are lying down and when you are getting up. Tie them on your hand as a sign. They should be on your forehead as a symbol. Write them on your house's doorframes and on your city's gates.
John 1:6-13 A man named John was sent from God. He came as a witness to testify concerning the light, so that through him everyone would believe in the light. He himself wasn't the light, but his mission was to testify concerning the light. The true light that shines on all people was coming into the world. The light was in the world, and the world came into being through the light, but the world didn't recognize the light. The light came to his own people, and his own people didn't welcome him. But those who did welcome him, those who believed in his name, he authorized to become God's children, born not from blood nor from human desire or passion, but born from God.
Acts 2:1-9 When Pentecost Day arrived, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound from heaven like the howling of a fierce wind filled the entire house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be individual flames of fire alighting on each one of them. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages as the Spirit enabled them to speak. There were pious Jews from every nation under heaven living in Jerusalem. When they heard this sound, a crowd gathered. They were mystified because everyone heard them speaking in their native languages. They were surprised and amazed, saying, “Look, aren't all the people who are speaking Galileans, every one of them? How then can each of us hear them speaking in our native language?...”
Psalm 103:8-14 The Lord is compassionate and merciful, very patient, and full of faithful love. God won't always play the judge; he won't be angry forever. He doesn't deal with us according to our sin or repay us according to our wrongdoing, because as high as heaven is above the earth, that's how large God's faithful love is for those who honor him. As far as east is from west—that's how far God has removed our sin from us. Like a parent feels compassion for their children—that's how the Lord feels compassion for those who honor him. Because God knows how we're made, God remembers that we're dust.
