Hello Theatre Lovers!

We are so lucky to live in such a stunning area! Although it has been cold outside I have to say how much I have been enjoying the amazing photographs of sunrises, sunsets, walks in the woods, cross country skiing, etc. that everyone has been posting from South Georgian Bay on social media. It really does give us something to be very thankful for. I am also very thankful for all the wonderful people we have that support what we do at Theatre Collingwood and I cannot wait till we can all be together again. The virus numbers are also slowly going down and that is worth celebrating!
This newsletter is a long one. We have so much to tell you! Join us this Wednesday at 7pm on Facebook Live for our interview with Dean Hollin and Valerie O’Brien. Rumour has it that Mr. Hollin is going to sing for us!
COBS BREAD is a bakery that opened in Collingwood during the pandemic! Andrea Sire opened her business at a time most would think would be undesirable, but they have had great success this year. Everyone loves their delicious breads and pastries!

I am thrilled to announce that Andrea and her team are supporting Theatre Collingwood with a most delicious fund raiser! Thank you so much to this great community partner!

We are selling Cobs vouchers (or as Anne calls them “Theatre Cobs-ingwood vouchers”) for $20 each, and Theatre Collingwood will receive $17 from each purchase in support of our 2021 programming! The voucher entitles you to get a FREE item every time you visit their store, for 6 visits. It is worth $30 and lists 6 different items to choose from, one per visit. The store is located at 151 First Street, Unit 6, Collingwood and the voucher is valid until March 2022. To purchase your Cobs Bakery Voucher just go to our website and click on tickets (it will look like you are buying a show ticket). You can also order vouchers by phone at 705-445-2200 or by emailing us HERE.

With Valentine's day just around the corner, this makes the perfect last-minute gift! Give your “Sweet Buns” a Cobs Voucher to show your love - free delivery of passes available within Collingwood for purchases made by Friday, February 12th! So get your “buns” over to our website to pick up your bread pass today! Thank you for supporting Theatre Collingwood and we hope you enjoy your delicious treats from Cobs!
Sadly, the theatre world (and the whole world) lost an icon last week when Christopher Plummer passed away. I think almost everyone has a favourite Christopher Plummer movie or play or experience. If you have a story to share with me please click HERE.

Blue Mountain Village Association is an organization with heart! Throughout the pandemic they have pivoted and helped many organizations with $1,000 grants to help in these difficult times. 15 organizations were recently awarded $1,000 grants and I am so thankful to be able to say that Theatre Collingwood has received one of these grants to help us with our PORCHSIDE FESTIVAL that we will be presenting in June.

Throughout the pandemic many have had to deal with more than the virus, they have also had to deal with an ongoing inability to feel represented. At Theatre Collingwood we believe we can take a step, beginning with our PORCHSIDE FESTIVAL, to reach out and offer more inclusive events and a sense of belonging for all. Through this festival we plan to develop a committee of community members to participate in open discussions on how we can continue to move this process forward. We will use the $1000 grant to market the event and to reach out to and include more under-represented artists, so that everyone in our community can feel they see themselves represented on our stages. Stay tuned for ticket information for the JUNE 2021 THEATRE COLLINGWOOD PORCHSIDE FESTIVAL, which will be held safely outdoors on porches around our region.

At Theatre Collingwood we have a tradition of celebrating International Women’s Day with the Girls Nite Out comedy troupe, staring Elvira Kurt. In 2020 it was the very last show we did before the world shut down. Each year we have this great show in The Normandy Room at the Collingwood Legion. Well, we are not about to let a pandemic stop us this year. Join us on Saturday, March 6th at 7pm for GIRLS NITE IN!

Celebrate International Women's Day with our annual comedy event, at home, with comedy legend Elvira Kurt and Jennine Profeta. Share this online super-fun party with your friends EVERYWHERE! And it’s INTERACTIVE - have your say on our CHAT during the show!

Undoubtedly, the song “Bring Him Home” (from “Les Miserables”) is one of the most-loved musical theatre songs. Many Theatre Collingwood audience members will remember Andrew Prashad who brought his beautiful show to us “One Step at a Time”. In this, he told the heartwarming story of his family’s experience when his son was born with Spina Bifida. Andrew is an incredibly talented actor, singer and dancer. He now brings to the world his version of this beautiful song, which takes on a whole new meaning! Enjoy!
Theatre Collingwood would like to sincerely thank our

If you have not done so yet, please check out our online 2020 COMMEMORATIVE PLAYBILL (which includes some great articles by local artists)
Have a wonderful February, everyone!
