Winter Team Stores Are Now Open

Winter Team Stores are now open with links to each team store. Returning varsity athletes and those who aspire to be on a varsity team are expected to purchase the required items listed below each sport. The stores and all items are available for athletes at any level. This will be the only opportunity to buy these items. Purchasing these items will not guarantee an athlete's placement on any team.

If the purchase of required items presents a financial hardship for a family, that family should reach out directly to the Athletic Equipment Manager Marley Flatley as soon as possible. Thayer wants to ensure that every student-athlete has what they need to participate.

The stores will be open until Monday, Oct. 19. No orders can be taken after the stores close. All sales are final. No returns or exchanges. All orders will ship to Thayer, and athletes will be notified when items are ready to be picked up in mid-November.

Please contact Flatley at mflatley@thayer.org if you have any questions or concerns.

Middle School Announcements

Middle School Parent/Guardian Conferences

Middle School Parent/Guardian Conferences will take place via Zoom today (Thursday, Oct. 15) from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 16, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. This virtual format offers greater flexibility for parents/guardians and ensures a focused, private conversation about their student’s progress. A reminder: Because of the conferences, the Middle School will have no school on Oct. 16. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Tenney, the Middle School’s registrar.

Lead an Activity This November

The Middle School recently shared with students the opportunity to lead an activity during its November Activity Days. Following the conclusion of the fall athletic season, students will have five days dedicated to participating in a variety of activities. In the past, offerings have included Book Club, Recycling/Garden Club, Positiviteam (community service), Dungeons & Dragons, Marble Run Building, Fishing, Board Games, Baking, and many more. Activities take place from 2:35 to 3:45 p.m. on Nov. 9, Nov. 10, Nov. 16, Nov. 17, and Nov. 18.

Over the past few years the Middle School has encouraged students to share their passions, creativity, and leadership by developing and leading activities of their own with the support of a faculty mentor. All students have been given a Google Form to submit their ideas, including a description of the activity, anticipated budget, and other planning details.

Some of the most popular activities in recent years have been student-led, and organizers are excited to see what new and creative ideas our students bring forward this year. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to take ownership of an idea, develop their leadership skills, and share their interests with the Middle School community. Encouragement from home is always appreciated to give that final step.

Middle School Picture Retake Day Is Oct. 19

Monday, Oct. 19, is Picture Retake Day for any Middle School students who missed Picture Day or would like to have their photos retaken.
