Thank You for a Great Gift Drive!
Organizers of the 38th annual Marilyn Legg Holiday Gift Drive send this message out to the Thayer community:
We did it! You did it! A HUGE thank-you to the entire Thayer community for helping us to collect gifts and gift cards for 700 children. The initial goal was gifts for 650 children, but both Middle School and Upper School families went above and beyond! This was the most successful drive in terms of both the quantity and quality of gifts. People were so generous, and we hope Thayer families realize what a difference they have made to so many children and families. The world needs smiles more than ever, and you have helped to do that this holiday season.
The following organization send a huge THANK-YOU:
- South Boston Neighborhood House
- Dept. of Child and Family Services: Coastal Braintree Office
- Quincy Community Action Programs: Headstart Program
- Bay State Community Services in Quincy: Teen to Teen Program
All Invited to Jigsaw Puzzle Night Jan. 9; Spots Still Open
Thayer will hold a Jigsaw Puzzle Night Friday, Jan. 9, at 6:30 p.m. in Cahall Dining Hall. The friendly competition is open to all members of the Thayer community: Middle School students, Upper School students, their parents/guardians, faculty, and staff. Cost is $25 per team; first-place, second-place, and third-place teams will have $300, $200, and $100, respectively, donated to the charities of their choice. Additionally, the winning team will receive a $100 gift card to the restaurant of their choice. Put together a team of about five people. Those interested in participating should fill out the Puzzle Night Form to submit the team name, the name of the team’s designated charity, and the names of team members. There is limited space for up to 24 teams, and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis; please make sure to sign up soon. Those with questions should reach out to Mr. Chiari or Ryan Lally ’26.
And an update: As of this morning (Thursday, Dec. 18), 10 teams had registered for the event with 14 spots still open.
Middle School Sponsors Coat Drive
The Middle School is once again running a drive to benefit Coats for Kids and Families. Members of the Thayer community are encouraged to donate warm winter coats — for both children and adults — from now until Friday, Dec. 19. All sizes are welcome, but please donate coats only. Longtime drive partner Anton’s Cleaners will clean the garments, so they just need to be in wearable condition. Drop-off boxes are located by the front door of the Middle School as well as in the Student Commons.

The book club kicked things off Dec. 1; follow-up discussions are slated for Thursday, Jan. 8, and Thursday, Feb. 5. Again, the author visit and Global Speaker Series event will take place Feb. 26. All are welcome; to sign up, click here.
