Tip of the Month:
How to Fundraise Successfully

Check out Fired-Up Fundraising and sign up for the free weekly e-newsletter produced by Gail Perry, an expert in innovative ways to raise funds for nonprofits. Here are three tips that Perry suggests nonprofits should do when fundraising:

1. You always need to say exactly how much you need to raise.
2. The specificity of your appeal triggers your donor’s generosity.

3. Always focus on the impact. It’s the most important part of the ask!

Reminder: New Grant Opportunity Focuses on Race and the History of Race

In an effort to advance racial equity, nonprofits in South Hampton Roads are invited to apply for a new grant opportunity for programs on race and the history of race in the region.

These one-time grants are offered by Virginia Humanities in partnership with the Hampton Roads Community Foundation through a special initiative called "Beneath the Surface."

A workshop will be held October 22. The deadline to apply for the grant is December 1. To register for the workshops and to apply, visit VirginiaHumanities.org/grants.
