When Ken Pedder was in high school, he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do as a career.

“I really had no direction or plans,” Pedder said.

Eventually, he applied to Central Westmoreland Career & Technology Center. He was looking to follow somewhat in the footsteps of his father, a journeyman toolmaker who worked at Penn State Tool & Die Corp., where Pedder eventually went to work with his father as a boss.

BotsIQ
Join BotsIQ in Highlighting Manufacturing this October

MFG Day is a nationwide celebration of manufacturing launched by the National Association of Manufacturers and The Manufacturing Institute. Typically celebrated on the first Friday in October, MFG Day has developed into a month-long event that encourages companies to open their doors and educate the community about their role in building a strong local, state, and national economy.

For 15 years, BotsIQ has partnered with local companies to raise awareness and encourage students to consider a career in manufacturing. Unfortunately, the global pandemic’s impact on the education system has decreased student’s access to these valuable learning experiences. In response, BotsIQ is highlighting manufacturing through virtual tours, career panels, and hands-on STEM activities. If you are interested in hosting a virtual event or discussing additional ways to partner with local schools, please reach out to Michel Conklin at conklin@botsiqpa.com.
Incumbent Worker Training Program
Do you have an employee who would benefit from a machinist training program?

If so, New Century Careers invites you to take advantage of the MANUFACTURING 2000 (M2K) Incumbent Worker Training Program offered in Pittsburgh (Day or Evening) and Latrobe - ECTC (Evenings).
