Milestones in NCC's 20-year history
In March 2017, New Century Careers received a DMG MORI, 5-Axis DMU 50 Ecoline machining center from DMG MORI USA. This 5-Axis machining center, driven with a Siemens controller, allows for the manufacture of complex, high precision components. This machine tool is a great addition to the inventory of available training and production equipment used by New Century Careers and the New Century Job Shop.
MANUFACTURING 2000 (M2K)
New Century Careers is accepting applications for the tuition-free MANUFACTURING 2000 (M2K) Machinist Training Program and M2K Quick Train classes (the first 125 hours of the M2K program).

NCC Staff Spotlight
In August, Eric Pferdekamper joined NCC's team as the Sales and Project Manager.

Eric is a veteran of workforce development programs with 20 years of experience in the public and non-profit sectors. Eric started his workforce development career as the Business Development Supervisor with the Pittsburgh/Allegheny County PA CareerLink offices. In this role, he developed and administered programs/services directed toward local employers to benefit the unemployed. Later, Eric served as Center Manager for the downtown PA CareerLink offices and was responsible for implementing federal, state and local programs focused on job readiness and job placement for the under/unemployed. Throughout his career, Eric has served on a number of non-profit boards.

“I'm truly excited to be a part of the NCC team. A strong manufacturing sector is critically important to our economy and offers strong middle class jobs to workers. Through the MANUFACTURING 2000 program, students get the skills needed to obtain a career with family sustaining wages in months not years. The training is comprehensive and with the Job Shop   component, M2K students have a real competitive edge when entering the workforce.”

Welcome Eric!
M2K Spotlight
After spending two years in college, Mike realized college wasn't the best fit for him. He was working as a forklift driver for a book publishing company but wanted to start a career. He learned about NCC's M2K program and liked the idea of working in manufacturing.

"At first, I didn't know much about machining but it seemed like a good fit for me the more I talked to people about it... I enjoy making things and there's a high demand for it," Mike said. "This program was a great experience. All the instructors were very helpful... I learned a lot from them. I also really liked how New Century Careers held mock interviews. It gave me confidence and pointers on what I should expect during a real interview."

Mike accepted a CNC machine operator position at a company earlier this month.
Robotics Technician Apprenticeship
New Century Careers is proud to announce the addition of a two-year, registered apprenticeship program for the job role of Robotics Technician to the group non-joint apprenticeship sponsorship.

"From the many conversations we've had in the past 18 months, we’re confident this program will address the need for employees to understand how to safely work with and around robotics and automated machinery found in many of the region’s best facilities," according to Neil Ashbaugh, NCC Director of Services. "By partnering with Catalyst Connection, CCAC and Tooling-U/SME, we know the apprentices will learn the skills to rapidly propel them in this highly-skilled, high demand field."
NTMA Apprenticeship Program
140 apprentices are currently enrolled for the 2019-2020 program year!

Classes at Central Westmoreland CTC, Northern Westmoreland CTC and NCC's Training Innovation Center will start the week of September 9th.
