Elizabeth Carbide Die Co. Inc.
|
|
Elizabeth Carbide Die Co. Inc.
, the world headquarters for Elizabeth Companies, was founded by Melvin B. Peterson in Elizabeth Township, a suburb outside of Pittsburgh, Pa. Starting as a six-man shop in 1954, Elizabeth Carbide introduced the use of carbide punches and dies to the pharmaceutical industry in the U.S. This established Elizabeth Carbide as innovators in the compression tooling industry, a quality the company still strives for today.
The family of Elizabeth companies has grown to become one of the world’s leading manufacturers of tablet tooling, tableting presses, blister pack tooling, turrets and press parts in the pharmaceutical industry. The companies also serve a diverse group of industries including oil & natural gas services, hot forge tooling, battery, chemical catalysts, nuclear fuels, propellants, electronics, and confectionery industries to name a few.
Over six decades Elizabeth has grown from that six-man shop into a global company with three facilities in Pa., as well as facilities in Kentucky, North Carolina, France, and India.

Before joining the M2K program in February 2018,
Dominick
completed four years of tech classes at Chartiers-Houston High School and was a member of its BotsIQ team. Dominick said he enjoyed BotsIQ because it was challenging and it allowed him to meet new people with similar interests.
After high school, he went on to college, but decided it wasn't for him. After speaking with his BotsIQ teacher, Dominick learned about NCC's M2K program.
"I really enjoyed working with the instructors because of how knowledgeable they are," Dominick said. "I don't think people realize how good of a program this is. Not everyone needs to go to college. I got more out of NCC than I did during my short time at college... I would tell people to take full advantage of this program."
Dominick was offered a machinist position at a local company in September and he's looking forward to growing in his position. He hopes to one day join an apprenticeship program. Congrats Dominick!

NCC Instructor Spotlight
Paul Urban

|
Paul Urban
has served as an instructor at NCC since 2005.
During the span of his career, Paul worked in three different machine shops before joining NCC.
"I enjoy teaching these young adults a trade and passing on my knowledge to help them get a job. That is my gratitude," Paul said. "It's a growing industry and there are a lot of openings. I've seen many students go through the program, and NCC is a great opportunity that doesn't cost them anything."
