M2K Spotlight
After spending two years at a four-year university, financial issues forced Isaiah to leave. He was working temporary jobs and realized he needed more career satisfaction.

“I was looking for something I could see myself doing in the future and doing well. After researching trade careers, I was referred to New Century Careers and it felt like a great fit,” Isaiah said. He started the program in April 2018 and gained more than 600 hours of training.

“New Century Careers prepared me for the workforce. It gave me entry-level training to get started in this field and get my foot in the door,” Isaiah said. “New Century Careers does an excellent job at being flexible and working with people of different backgrounds.”

Isaiah accepted a machinist position at a local company in December and hopes to further develop his CNC skills on the job and through apprenticeship.

NCC Launches New Shop Floor Layout in 2019
Working with input from industry leaders and consultants, a decision was made to reconfigure the machine layout at NCC's Training Innovation Center (TIC) in late December. This new layout allows trainees to work in an environment similar to what they will experience in their careers at local manufacturers. This will also allow NCC to enhance training and parts production for New Century Job Shop. Once the move to a cellular layout was complete, additional space was created for future use that could include new equipment, an assembly area or a controlled raw materials storage area.  NCC is very excited to offer this new experience to trainees.
