Shawn previously worked as an auto mechanic, and had spent the past three years working seven days a week.
Seeking a rewarding career, he joined the M2K program in November, 2019. “I was always fascinated by the process,” he said. “I learned how to approach the jobs and plan each step of the process from print to the completed part.”
Through the New Century Job Shop, Shawn also gained real-world, hands-on experience working on orders for local manufacturers, including machine, robotics fixturing, and weldment components.
Shawn accepted a job as a machinist in early April at a shop less than four miles from his house. He was excited to be running both a milling machine and a Clausing Colchester Lathe. His first job was to machine a clevis pin for a crane.
