New Century Careers Update
Message about COVID-19
New Century Careers continues to do its part by continuing the suspension of all training sessions until further notice. While our sites are closed, our staff is still available as they work from home. These are difficult times, but we look forward to reopening to provide all of our valuable programming to the region and we continue to encourage applications for training.

For additional resources that may assist manufacturers, please refer to this online resource we've created.
Jobs Available
In response to the COVID-19 crisis New Century Careers is currently gathering information about local manufacturers who are seeking employees during this critical fight.
If your company or one you know needs entry level workers please let us know by contacting Patrick Bendel at (412) 258-6668 or bendel@ncsquared.com.
Neil Ashbaugh named new president and CEO of New Century Careers
Neil Ashbaugh is the new president and CEO of New Century Careers. Neil, formerly NCC’s director of services, succeeds Paul Anselmo who retired recently after two decades of service to NCC and the region’s manufacturing sector.

Hired by NCC in 2016, Neil has managed a broad range of programs including apprenticeship, production, sales, marketing, business development, corporate training and talent development, and workforce development and has taken the lead in establishing two initiatives from inception, the Group Non-Joint Apprenticeship Program and the New Century Job Shop, opened in 2019.

He has provided day-to-day management of programming and operations and managed apprenticeship related instruction for the Pittsburgh Chapter of the National Tooling and Machining Association (NTMA).

“Neil has twenty-three years’ experience in manufacturing --from the shop floor to HR and technical training management,” said Greg Chambers, NCC Board chair and director of corporate compliance at Oberg Industries. “He can relate to all facets of NCC’s work, having completed a formal apprenticeship program, working for years operating metalworking machines, developing corporate marketing and forecasting strategies, and building strong customer relationships,” he added. “Neil has the compassion, competence and leadership skills to help people and strengthen the metalworking industry in this region into the future.”

M2K Spotlight
Before joining the M2K program  Austin  was finishing up in High School and heard about the program through a family member. Austin spent a lot of time in his high school wood shop and knew he enjoyed working with his hands, so he decided to join the M2K program.

“The program is a great experience, all positive learning,” Austin said. “It gave me a good foundation for understanding the industry. Hands-on is very beneficial.”

Austin accepted a machinist position at a local company in March.
