KINGSPORT FIRE DEPARTMENT: CHILD PASSENGER SEAT CHECKPOINT 
On the first Friday of each month there will be an open Child Passenger Seat Checkpoint from 9am-11am at the Kingsport Fire Department Station 1, 130 Island St, Kingsport. Child Passenger Seat Technicians from multiple agencies will be available to check seats and instruct families on the proper use and installation of child passenger seats.

SATURDAY, MAY 4TH
KINGSPORT FARMERS MARKET: GRAND OPENING FOR THE SEASON 
It's official--the Kingsport Farmers Market will be fully open for the season starting Saturday, May 4. Join us in making our opening day a fun-filled celebration of all things local. We'll be open 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. with plenty of vendors to buy tasty treats, fresh produce, homemade crafts and more from! And since this is a celebration, we'll have a few extras going on too. Big Like The Ocean will be at the market bringing you some great tunes to bob your head to while you chat with your vendors and neighbors, and we'll also have kids activities to make sure the little ones have a great day at the market too.

Here's our schedule for the day --
7 a.m. - Market opens
9 a.m. - Dobyns-Bennett High School's Agriculture class is sponsoring tomato planting for kids. The first 100 kids will take home a free tomato plant!
9 a.m. - STREAMWORKS will have kids activities.
9:30 a.m. - Market Jams featuring Big Like the Ocean

THE INVENTOR CENTER: MOTHER'S DAY WORKSHOP 
Sign up with the important woman-mother, grandmother, aunt, role model-in your life to create matching or individual tiaras. Students will leave with a completed tiara and the skill to create more designs in the future! Recommended age: 8+
Skill Level: Beginner+
Students will learn the basics of using pliers, wire wrapping, and shaping a tiara. Examples, sketch paper, and instructions will be provided, but if you have a specific style you're interested in feel free to bring a picture or sketch. There will be a wide selection of bead colors as well as copper and silver wire available.

It's an evening packed with fun at High Voltage! Feeding Frenzy food truck will be serving by 6 p.m., the Kentucky Derby runs at 6:5o, and Beth Snapp with Jason Crawford finish off the night with some great live music. Beth Snapp's latest, an EP entitled Don't Apologize, has risen thus far to #9 on the Folk Alliance charts within the first weeks of play, and "Easy to Love" was featured on Sirius XM's Bluegrass Junction.

For the first time in the festival's history, Racks by the Tracks will be TWO full days of events - Friday, May 17th and Saturday, May 18th!
