Have You Noticed?

Here is just a quick snapshot of the beautiful new Sanctuary windows that your prayers and generosity made a reality for our church congregation and future generations. One Sunday morning in the next several weeks, we plan to acknowledge the project completion and dedicate the new windows to the glory of God.

Come To The Table Series Continues

We warmly invite you to be a part of our Worship Series, “Come to the Table,” a beautiful opportunity to gather around the table of grace, where we share in meaningful connections, extend invitations to others, and embrace the peace of Christ together.

Worship begins at 9:15 a.m., with the Traditional Service in the Sanctuary and the Anchor Modern Worship in the Ministry Center. We look forward to seeing you there and sharing this special time with you.

New Book Study

Join Rev. Meg Procopio for a book study about how the existence of smartphones and social media has impacted adolescent mental health. In Jonathon Haidt's, The Anxious Generation, he argues that the shift from flip phones to smartphones between 2010 and 2015, coupled with a decline in face-to-face interactions and childhood play, has led to increased mental distress in teenagers.

The book explores how this technology-driven change disrupts development through sleep deprivation, social deprivation, cognitive fragmentation, and addiction. It blends ancient wisdom with modern research to highlight these issues and advocate for change.

This book study begins September 22nd at 5:00 pm.

Staff Update

Good afternoon church family,

Working here at IOHUMC has been an absolute pleasure, and I thank all of you for making my time here so enjoyable. There have been no conflicts or ill feelings at all. When I was offered the position, we knew it would be a challenge for me to perform my duties to our church and maintain a business of my own; therefore we decided to try it on a part-time basis to see if taking the position would be feasible.

This church has been a rock for me and my family over the years, so when I was offered the Facilities Manager position, I jumped at the chance to serve. I truly wanted this to work out, but the reality is that I have to be honest and admit that the challenge is too great. I don't feel that I can perform at the level the job requires. I don't feel that it is fair to the church and our congregation that I continue in this capacity.

I will stay on for another couple of weeks, and I will continue to play guitar in the Anchor Services. I live just around the corner, so as always, if I'm needed, don't hesitate to call. Thank you all for supporting me during my time in this position, and for understanding my decision to leave.

Sincerely,

Harold Glover
