Church News

Organ Arrival!

We are thrilled to announce that our new church organ has officially arrived! This custom organ matches our Sanctuary beautifully and will accompany our congregation in worship for generations. The organ will have voicing and tonal adjustments made over the next few weeks to prepare for its debut in worship on Palm Sunday. While we have a few more weeks to wait for the debut, be sure to check out our social media pages for a few sneak peeks of this incredible instrument being played.

Many, many thanks to all who made this possible!

Confirmation Retreat to Epworth by the Sea

This past weekend, our confirmation class went on a retreat to Epworth by the Sea for a time of team building, learning, and fellowship. These students conquered a low ropes course, tested their Methodist knowledge at the Moore Methodism Museum, and were presented with their handmade stoles during worship. We are so proud of this class and are eagerly looking forward to their Confirmation on Sunday, March 8.

Happy 90th Birthday,

Dixie Diffenderfer!

This Friday, February 27, is our very own Dixie Diffenderfer's 90th birthday.

Join us all in celebrating Dixie on this momentous occasion!

Great Day of Giving

THIS Sunday, March 1 at 9:15 am | IOHUMC Sanctuary

This upcoming Sunday, the day after our Great Day of Service, we will have a Great Day of Giving during Sunday worship. We invite you to participate in a special offering for Missions.

The Missions Committee has prayerfully submitted a budget, and the church is fully committed to meeting it. This offering, however, is an opportunity to give above and beyond, allowing our missions ministry to expand its reach and respond to needs and opportunities that fall outside our regular budget. Every gift given in prayer helps our Missions Committee dream bigger, respond faster, and extend our footprint further - locally and globally.

Feel free to give online now towards the Great Day of Giving by following this link and selecting "Great Day of Giving for Missions" from the drop-down menu.

Good Samaritan Circle: March Meeting

Friday, March 6 at 10:00 am | IOHUMC Green House

The Good Samaritan Circle will have our March meeting on Friday, March 6 at 10 am in the Green House. Bring with you a memory of a first or early experience from church or Sunday School, or, perhaps, just any early worship memory. We continue to share with each other so that we can get to know each other even better…(after all these years)! We welcome everyone. So if you are someone looking for a fun group to join, we are for you! Remember that we have awesome snacks!

Mission Partner Spotlight: Mary's Place

Tuesday, March 10 at 5:30 pm | IOHUMC

On March 10th at 5:30 pm, the Missions Committee will welcome a representative from Mary’s Place to join us and share more about their work in our community. Coco Papy will be with us to offer insight into the ministry of Mary’s Place and to answer any questions we may have.

Mary’s Place is a local nonprofit that provides compassionate, comprehensive support to survivors of sexual assault. Because of the nature of their work and the ways women often walk alongside and care for others in seasons of crisis, we believe this conversation may be especially meaningful for our Circles.

We would love for you to attend and to personally invite the women in your group to come, listen, learn, and explore how we might support this important ministry together.

Please RSVP by March 6 by emailing Sara Fullerton at sfullerton@iohumc.com. This will help us prepare the meeting space. We hope you’ll join us for this important time of learning and connection.

All those attending need to be at the Prison Security Office Entrance at 1:00 pm. Ronnie Lusk will meet attendees at the parking lot of the prison and navigate them through security. If you would like to attend, please fill out this consent form and email it to Jim Bryan (jlbscb55@gmail.com) by Wednesday, March 11.
