"Meditation" Choir Preview Night

Wednesday, February 7 at 7:00 p.m.

Interested in singing this Lent/Easter? Join the Isle of Hope Choir tonight for a "preview night" of the music they will be preparing for "Meditation on the Passion of Christ," a special service that will be presented on Sunday, March 24, at 5:00 p.m. in the Ministry Center.

"Meditation on the Passion of Christ" will focus on the last twelve hours of Jesus' life using multimedia, including video and music. The choir will be accompanied by piano and string orchestra. For more information, contact Rev. Jared Wilson.

Flapjacks and Jazz

February 13, 2024 - 6:00 PM

Join us on "Fat Tuesday" in the Ministry Center for a night of Flapjacks and Jazz!

Following a delicious meal, we will enjoy a Jazz Vespers Service with some of the best jazz musicians around! This service combines the liturgical traditions of Vespers (Evening Prayer) with the musical improvisation of jazz. With a theme of hope, the service will be led by our Isle of Hope UMC ministers, and the music will feature some of our favorite hymns arranged in a jazz style. Sara Fullerton, the worship leader at Encounter UMC in Rincon, will be our special guest soloist.

This event is free and open to the public, so invite a friend! Reservations are required to help us best prepare for the meal. Reserve your spot by visiting the church website, www.iohumc.com.

For more information, contact Rev. Meg Procopio or Rev. Jared Wilson.

Ash Wednesday

February 14, 2024 - 7:30 AM & 6:30 PM

The Imposition of Ashes will be offered in the Sanctuary.

Ash Wednesday emphasizes a duel encounter: we confront our own mortality and confess our sin before God within the community of faith. The use of ashes as a sign of mortality and repentance has a long history in both Jewish and Christian worship, and the Imposition of Ashes is a powerful experiential way of participating in the call to repentance and reconciliation during the season of Lent.

Church-Wide Lenten Study

Beginning February18th at 10:30 AM

Join one of our adult Sunday School classes during Lent for, “The Third Day: Living the Resurrection” by Tom Berlin. In this study, Bishop Berlin uses his gifts of storytelling and understanding the Scriptures to connect participants to the experiences of several individuals around Jesus in his final days, focusing on new life and redemption rather than loss. Join Peter, Mary Magdalene, and Thomas as they feel the despair of losing Jesus and the surprise and joy that awaits them in the resurrection. This study traces events around these characters, along with Paul and the disciples at Emmaus, and how the resurrection transforms their lives.

Tom Berlin was elected a Bishop of The United Methodist Church in 2022 by the Southeastern Jurisdiction and currently serves as the episcopal leader of the Florida Annual Conference. He is a native of Winchester, Virginia, and is a graduate of Virginia Tech and Candler School of Theology at Emory University.

For more information about this study, contact Rev. Meg Procopio or Rev. Jared Wilson.

"When we pray with one another... we realize how much we mutually need God and how we mutually need to encourage one another." Jim Cymbala, Pastor of the Brooklyn Tabernacle Church.

Come on Wednesday nights to our Sanctuary as we join our hearts together in prayer. We begin at 6PM, but you may come and go as your time permits. Your prayers may be silent or spoken. Let's love one another as we gather to pray together. As Pastor Cymbala says, "when we do, there's no telling what God might do."

If you do not have a tile for entrance, you may call or text Gary Thompson at 856.981.8117 and someone will open the door.
