~Pardon Our Dust~

Floor repairs are being made to level the organ pit for everyone’s safety. A few things will be temporarily rearranged to accommodate this work and allow the refinished boards to cure. Thank you for your patience!

With Heartfelt Gratitude!

Many thanks to everyone who prayed, planned, prepared for, and provided so much tangible love through the Great Day of Service. On Saturday, the Coastal District United Methodist Churches came together at IOHUMC and served in a variety of ways.

  • Assisted SonRise Servers, providing a hot breakfast for people living in homelessness
  • Provided non-perishable food items for the Connexion Church Food Pantry
  • Created beautiful notes of encouragement for Kairos and PACK
  • Sewed hygiene kits for adults and precious backpacks for children living in poverty & filled them with hygiene items and small toys
  • Prepared 2 weeks of delicious meals and desserts for the families enrolled in Family Promise
  • Donated blood through the American Red Cross
  • Packed 14,000 dehydrated meal packages with Rise Against Hunger for people facing starvation globally

A special word of thanks to a church member who provided the funding for the Rise Against Hunger event.

It was a great, Great Day of Service!

Farewell to Andrew

On Sunday, March 23rd, stop by the Ministry Center on your way to Sunday School for some cake, and take a minute to thank Andrew Parnell for his years of volunteering, singing, drumming, "guitaring," working, and blessing us at IOHUMC. He and his wife, Lizzy, have been such assets to our congregation, our staff, and especially our students. We will celebrate him, pray for him, and wish him well on the next part of his and Lizzy's journey.

Music Ministry

It was a historic day at Isle of Hope UMC as the Board of Trustees and the Organ Committee members gathered to sign a contract with Allen Organs of Macungie, Pennsylvania.

Allen will build a new custom organ for the Isle of Hope Sanctuary with 3 manuals and 77 stops spread over 4 divisions. The organ will be symphonic in design (inspired by the work of G. Donald Harrison) and will use samples exclusively from some of the finest E.M. Skinner and Aeolian-Skinner organs in the country. The console will have a colonial finish (white exterior with walnut/cherry interior), matching the woodwork of Isle of Hope's historic Sanctuary.

The first requirement for planning the design of this organ was for Rev. Jared Wilson to play the liturgy of the church, accompany great hymn singing, provide sensitive and expressive choral accompaniment for voices of all ages, and inspire the worship service. In addition, it will play a fabulous organ concert, easily accommodating the organ repertoire from all historical periods.

Special thanks to our Organ Committee (Jared Wilson, Terri Smiley, Greg Smith, Kathy Smith, Marla Williamson, Dave Fletcher, Stephen Grantham, and Cliff DeVan) as well as George Hiatt and Aram Basmadjian of Allen Organ Company for all of their work and dedication to this project.

Now the wait begins!

Missions

Wesley Center Food Pantry

Many thanks to everyone who faithfully provides food for the pantry at Wesley Community Center. At this time, they need rice, grits, cereal, canned meats, and fruit. Please no large cans or large bags of rice and grits.

Family Promise

IOHUMC will serve with Family Promise March 16th-29th. We will provide a hot evening meal each night for families enrolled in the ministry. Please be in prayer for these families facing homelessness.

Sunday Night Youth Series

Game shows can reveal the real strength behind friendships. Whether we're asking for help, solving puzzles, or overcoming challenges, quality friendships can help us move on to the next round of competition. So, what does it look like to develop game-winning friendships?

This Sunday we will be looking at the big idea that God can help us choose our friends wisely

We will hear stories from Paul about some qualities we can look for, and develop for ourselves, when looking for quality friendships.

Other Church News

Mini Pilgrimage to Alabama

Yesterday, this group set out to Montgomery, AL for a Civil Rights Pilgrimage where they will visit many historic places that changed our country. This is the conclusion to the Color of Compromise study.

Meg, Jared, Dina, and Meg will join other churches and groups and visit Dexter Ave Baptist Church where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. preached, The Legacy Center which powerfully connects the history of slavery, segregation, and America's struggle for justice, and the Rose Parks Museum that honors the legacy of Rosa Parks.

Please be in prayer for this group as they travel!

Welcome New Members!

We are thrilled to welcome Katy and Fred Harold as the newest members of our church family! They joined us during the Anchor Service on March 9th, and we couldn’t be more excited to have them as part of our IOHUMC community. They have three children, Mason, Tate, and Luke, who are jumping right into all the fun activities. Let’s give them a warm welcome and continue to surround them with love, support, and fellowship as they embark on this new chapter with us. We're blessed to have them with us!

Wednesday Night Prayer Meeting Focus

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6

Tonight our prayer meeting will be held at 5:30 pm in the Sanctuary. Our prayer focus will be on asking God for wisdom and guidance to enable us to financially provide for the repairs to our Sanctuary roof and the replacement of our organ. Additionally, we will praise God, give Him thanks, lift up our pastors, staff, and their families, ask for wisdom and guidance for our church and for ourselves, and lift up the needs of others.

All are welcome to join us. You may come and go as your time permits. Your prayers may be spoken or silent. Something very powerful occurs when God’s people come together for corporate prayer.

It's that time of year again! Order your white hydrangeas now for Easter! They are $20 each and will be in the Traditional and Anchor services on Easter morning. You are invited to take yours home after the late service.
