Here's What's New at Isle of Hope:

175th Anniversary Celebration THIS SUNDAY!

Our 175th Anniversary Celebration is this Sunday, May 3!

We are looking forward to a very special worship service where former IOHUMC clergy will help lead us in worship, and we will sing a hymn written by Rev. Jared Wilson just for this occasion.

The service will be followed by a picnic brunch under the oaks, where the church family can gather together in celebration of God's many years of faithfulness to our church.

Our brunch will be a potluck and we have created a sign-up form for food. If you're able, please sign up to bring one of the listed food items or your favorite brunch treat!

We also need a few more volunteers for event clean up. You can sign up to help with clean up here.

Please bring your own picnic blanket, chairs, or whatever you would like for seating. Several tables and chairs will be available for those in need of seating.

We wouldn't be able to have this event without all of your incredible help. Thank you in advance!

A Called Charge Conference has been scheduled for Isle of Hope UMC on Sunday, May 17, following Sunday School at 11:30 am in the Ministry Center. It will be presided over by the Rev. Josh Roberts, to vote on updates to clergy compensation for our three appointed Associate Pastors.

Senior Graduation Brunch

Congratulations to the IOHUMC high school seniors (and those who couldn't make it) who were honored at our graduation brunch ! We are so proud of you all and are cheering you on in your next adventures.

If you have not informed us yet about your senior, please email afowkes@iohumc.com to ensure we include everyone in an upcoming Sunday worship.

One Georgia Unification Plan

The United Methodist Church is proposing to unify the North Georgia and South Georgia Annual Conferences in the One Georgia Unification Plan. Church delegates will vote on this matter in the coming weeks.

You can learn more about this proposed unification at the link below or by talking to your church delegates: Lynn & Bill Hagan, Karen & Fred Daniel, and Bill Daniel.

Missions in Motion: Celebrating What God Is Doing

Here’s an update on how we’ve been living out God’s love over the past month:

  • 3,020 lbs of onions gleaned on April 18 by 35 volunteers—donated to Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia and distributed at no cost through 230+ partner agencies to serve neighbors in need
  • 14 donors who gave the gift of life at our April 29 blood drive
  • New monthly support for Inner City Night Shelter—the Missions Committee has committed to providing a pallet of water each month, totaling approximately $2,400 annually
  • $5,577.42 raised for Sleep in Heavenly Peace through congregational giving and our Lent Coin Challenge
  • $3,000 in wish list items purchased for Wesley Community Center’s STEAM preschool—collected over the past few months and completed this month through the generosity of our congregation
  • Amazon Wish List items purchased and delivered to Mary’s Place during a recent tour of their facility
  • 250+ books donated to Loop It Up Savannah for their Looping Literacy Together Campaign

Thank you for being a church that shows up, gives generously, and serves faithfully. This is what love in action looks like.

Opportunities to Serve

Responding to South GA Wildfires

As wildfires continue to impact communities across South Georgia, we invite you to join us in prayer for all those affected, and for the first responders working tirelessly to contain the fires. At this time, the South Georgia Conference of The United Methodist Church has asked that no Early Response Teams deploy while this remains an active emergency.

The Conference shower trailer has been sent to Brantley County at the request of local officials, and Rev. Dr. Mike Bankston is working closely with county leaders to assess ongoing needs. We will share more specific opportunities to serve in the coming weeks once conditions are safe and needs are clearly identified.

In the meantime, financial gifts are one of the most impactful ways to respond. You can give online by selecting the “Conference Disaster Response” fund, or drop off a check at the church and designate “Conference Disaster Response” in the memo line.

Items Needed for Wesley Food Pantry

The Wesley Community Center Food Pantry is a lifeline for many of our neighbors. Right now, they are currently in need of the following:

  • Peanut Butter
  • Canned Fruit
  • Spaghetti Noodles
  • Rice

Donations can be dropped off in the collection cabinet located in the main hallway near the Sanctuary. We kindly request no donations of canned vegetables at this time.

VBS Volunteers

We have tons of excited children registered for VBS, but we still need more volunteers to make sure they have the best week ever.

Please sign up today to make this dream a reality!

Guatemala Trip Interest Meeting

Tuesday, May 5 at 5:30 pm | IOHUMC

As a church, we believe we’re called to go — to make disciples, to build relationships, and to come alongside the work God is already doing around the world. From November 1-5, we’ll have the opportunity to do just that as we visit our mission partners, Transitions and Christ Child’s Nest, in Guatemala. Our time will be spent serving, learning, and supporting their work in whatever ways are most helpful.

If you’re even a little curious—whether you’ve been on a trip before or this would be your first—we’d love for you to come and learn more. This meeting is simply a space to hear the vision, ask questions, and explore what it might look like to be part of this experience.

Email Sara Fullerton at sfullerton@iohumc.com if you plan on attending.
