VBS Volunteer Orientation - May 18
Our VBS Volunteer Orientation has been rescheduled for Monday, May 18. We will offer the orientation at two different times, 9:30am and 6:00pm, to make it easy for you to attend. Choose the one that is best for you.
All helpers, youth & adults, must meet to complete our required annual Safe Sanctuary certifications. We will also review schedules & distribute materials.
If you know of any interested youth or adults who haven't signed up yet, tell them to come to the orientation and go ahead and register online by clicking below.
Please email Beth Parr at bparr@iohumc.com to RSVP, and be sure to include which time you will attend.

Missions in Motion: Celebrating What God Is Doing
Here’s an update on how we’ve been living out God’s love over the past month:
-
3,020 lbs of onions gleaned on April 18 by 35 volunteers—donated to Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia and distributed at no cost through 230+ partner agencies to serve neighbors in need
-
14 donors who gave the gift of life at our April 29 blood drive
- New monthly support for Inner City Night Shelter—the Missions Committee has committed to providing a pallet of water each month, totaling approximately $2,400 annually
-
Over $5,500 raised for Sleep in Heavenly Peace through congregational giving and our Lent Coin Challenge
-
$3,000 in wish list items purchased for Wesley Community Center’s STEAM preschool—collected over the past few months and completed this month through the generosity of our congregation
- Amazon Wish List items purchased and delivered to Mary’s Place during a recent tour of their facility
-
250+ books donated to Loop It Up Savannah for their Looping Literacy Together Campaign
-
105 baby blankets and 138 bonding hearts delivered to Memorial Hospital NICU by the Sassy Sowers
Thank you for being a church that shows up, gives generously, and serves faithfully. This is what love in action looks like.

Responding to South GA Wildfires
As wildfires continue to impact communities across South Georgia, we invite you to join us in prayer for all those affected, and for the first responders working tirelessly to contain the fires. At this time, the South Georgia Conference of The United Methodist Church has asked that no Early Response Teams deploy while this remains an active emergency.
The Conference shower trailer has been sent to Brantley County at the request of local officials, and Rev. Dr. Mike Bankston is working closely with county leaders to assess ongoing needs. We will share more specific opportunities to serve in the coming weeks once conditions are safe and needs are clearly identified.
In the meantime, financial gifts are one of the most impactful ways to respond. You can give online by selecting the “Conference Disaster Response” fund, or by check, designating “Conference Disaster Response” in the memo line.

Arts from the Island
Saturday, May 16 at 10:00 am | Off-Site
Join us next Saturday, May 16, for Arts from the Island. This ministry is an important missional outreach of Isle of Hope's Music Ministry. Each month, we provide opportunities to sing for and with residents of area nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospice care, and health care facilities.
Next Saturday's location will be shared in next week's e-blast. All are invited to participate! No rehearsals or musical experience is necessary - all that is required is a willingness to make a "joyful noise!"
Email Rev. Jared Wilson at jwilson@iohumc.com with any questions.
