Here's What's New at Isle of Hope:

Children's Sunday School Teachers Needed

As our Children’s Ministry program continues to grow, we are ready to grow our leadership opportunities. This fall, IOHUMC will add a Godly Play class. Those who are familiar with or have taught Godly Play, or who would like to learn, are invited to consider joining either the Kindergarten team or the First–Second Grade team.

We are also seeking a teacher and/or assistant for a wonderful group of two-year-olds. The two-year-old class will reopen in August, with at least seven children ready to begin Sunday School.

If any of these opportunities speak to your heart, please contact Children's Ministry Director Beth Parr at 912-663-7466 or bparr@iohumc.com.

Arts from the Island

Saturday, June 20 at 10 am | Offsite

Join us next Saturday, May 16, for Arts from the Island. This ministry is an important missional outreach of Isle of Hope's Music Ministry. Each month, we sing for and with residents of area nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospice care, and health care facilities.

Next Saturday's location will be shared in next week's e-blast. All are invited to participate! No rehearsals or musical experience is necessary - all that is required is a willingness to make a "joyful noise!"

Email Rev. Jared Wilson at jwilson@iohumc.com with any questions.

Stock the Wesley Community Center Food Pantry

The Wesley Community Center Food Pantry is a lifeline for many of our neighbors. Right now, they are currently in need of the following:

  • Peanut Butter
  • Canned Fruit
  • Spaghetti Noodles
  • Rice

Donations can be placed in the collection cabinet located in the main hallway near the Sanctuary. We kindly request no donations of canned vegetables at this time.

Weekday Ministries Preschool Camp

Our Weekday Ministries Preschool Camp is in full swing, and it has been a week full of fun, friendship, and summer memories! Take a look at some of the sweet moments from camp so far — and stay tuned for more fun next week as Vacation Bible School begins!

Endowment Fund Update

In the first quarter of 2026, the Endowment Fund distributed $84,172 in accumulated interest & dividends, and 2% of appreciation, to the Board of Trustees to replenish the sinking fund reserves that were heavily drawn upon in 2025 to finance critical, unbudgeted campus care, including multiple HVAC replacements.

The IOHUMC Endowment Committee has 7 members, including the Senior Pastor, and since its inception in late 2014, the fund has received over 1,100 individual contributions. Assets are managed to balance the following three objectives: 1) to maximize growth of income (dividends & interest); 2) capital appreciation; and 3) capital preservation.

Church policy mandates protection of the core principal, and investments can only be in stocks of companies that are "socially responsible," meaning that they do not derive more than 10% of their revenue from armaments (both nuclear & conventional), alcoholic beverages, tobacco, prison facilities, gambling, adult entertainment, or forced labor/ sweatshops. If you have any questions about our Endowment, including estate planning considerations, please contact Steve Lewis at jsl71544@gmail.com.

Faith, Freedom, & Community: A Service of Worship for Our Nation's 250th Year

July 5 at 9:15 am | Sanctuary

Join us as we gather in worship to give thanks for the gift of freedom and to reflect on our calling as people of faith within the life of our nation. Through scripture, prayer, and music—including offerings from our choir—we will explore the ways God forms us into a community rooted in grace, committed to justice, and united in hope.

This service offers a meaningful opportunity to honor our shared life as citizens, while remembering the deeper foundation of our life together in Christ.

Jammin' July: Good Dirt

During the month of July, all adult Sunday School classes will meet together in the Ministry Center for our Adult Education Series focused on cultivating community.

Each week, we will listen to wonderful presenters speak on topics like the origins of community, how community is sustained by faith, what to do when community falls apart, and practical pathways to community.

We can't wait to see you all there!
