Church News

The SPRC is pleased to announce that Josh McLemore has been hired as our new Director of Modern Worship.

Josh will be responsible for teaching, training, and encouraging God's people through worship in harmony with the purpose of IOHUMC and its leadership. He will work closely with our clergy and other staff members to support our vision, with a focus on all worship being done for the glory of God.

Josh is a Licensed Local Pastor who comes to us with experience leading worship, and he is highly referenced by Jason Wade. He and his son, Isaiah, recently moved to Savannah, and his first Sunday will be July 9th.

The SPRC is also pleased to announce that Marla Williamson has been hired as our new Facilities Manager.

Marla has been a member of IOHUMC for many years, and recently retired from the FBI and moved out of Savannah. Now returning to join our staff family, she will help advance the missions and ministries of our church by keeping our facilities and parsonages in peak performance, as well as maintaining the services of our Memory Garden.

Marla has a background in Facilities Oversight from her time at the FBI and has other experiences in customer service that will provide a strong platform for her as she fills this new position at IOHUMC. She will start later this month.

VBS Thanks!

Thank you to all the great superheroes who made our VBS week a wonderful time for 102 children! Thank you to those who prayed, to those who brought food to power the staff, and most of all to our wonderful volunteers - 70 adults and youth who taught, danced, sang, played, and loved our children!

Your powerful efforts raised over $1,300 for Transitions Foundation, an organization in Guatemala that makes wheelchairs and prosthetics for people in their community who cannot afford such care.

It was a wonderful week of God's power made visible. Our Bible verse for the week could not have been more fitting: "So let's strive for the things that bring peace and the things that build each other up."

Romans 14:19
