Please join us in thanking Aaron Fox for serving this summer as our Interim Director of Student Ministries! He and our summer staff provided our students with a fabulous summer. Thank you, Aaron, for serving IOHUMC and its families!
We would like to welcome Andrew Parnell as our new Director of Student Ministries. Andrew and his wife, Lizzie, are familiar to many of you, especially those who attend the Anchor Modern worship service. Andrew has been sharing his musical gifts with us, and Lizzie has been volunteering behind the scenes to help the service run smoothly. Andrew now feels led to answer God's call, and we are the recipients! He will start in this role on September 7th.

|
We are also excited to announce that Julie Vann is now serving as the Interim Director of Missions and Outreach for IOHUMC! Julie served in this position many years ago, and has offered to guide us and the Missions Committee, without compensation, as we continue our goals of showing Christ's love to others, both in our community and around the globe.
Please take a moment to pray for Julie and for Andrew, for the positions they hold at IOHUMC, and for the Lord to guide them, alongside the rest of our talented staff, to continue our missions and ministries!
Your SPR Committee,
Bill Simmons, Chair
Martha Nesbit, Co-chair

Survivors from the Valley
Survivors from the Valley, our new Sunday morning class for parents, begins September 10th, at 10:30 AM in Room 15. Our first study will be based on the book "Bags: Helping Your Kids Lighten the Load." Do you want your kids to grow up to be emotionally, mentally, relationally, and spiritually healthy? We do, too! More and more kids today are struggling to live into this dream. As they go through life, they encounter people and situations that lead them to pack and carry some enormous emotional baggage that holds them back from living in the grace and freedom God intended.
This study will offer parents practical strategies to leverage the influence of these bags, and to prevent some of them from getting packed in the first place! The class will be taught by Wendy Williamson, Bob Akin, and Carolyn Hannaford. For more information, contact Rev. Meg Procopio (mprocopio@iohumc.com).

Way Forward Prayer Emphasis for September 3rd - 9 th
For our Way Forward Prayer emphasis this week, please pray for the work of the Lay Leadership Committee.
While each of us contributes to the work of the church in a multitude of ways, much of the work requires the coordinated effort of groups of people – committees. The Lay Leadership Committee identifies people with the interest, experience, spirit, and drive to lead or participate on a committee. Our Lay Leadership is currently completing their plans to staff the church’s committees at IOHUMC.
Please pray in thankfulness for the Lay Leadership’s effort to recruit servants for the Lord’s work.
Pray thankfully for those who have stepped up to take on new roles.
Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in finding your place, and to help you engage, encourage, and support the mission and ministries of Isle of Hope UMC.

Many thanks to those of you who participated in our drive-by food drive Saturday to benefit Emmaus House. Within 24 hours, the Emmaus cook reported that 15 lbs of chicken salad was made from our donations and plans were underway for the other items received!
If you were unable to stop by the church parking lot on Saturday, you can still donate food items in the box marked “Food for Emmaus House" located in the main hallway outside the church office. Thank you for your support in helping to feed the hungry of Savannah!
